No Fighters on Replacement Carrier

I have reached the a point where I received a brand new Essex class carrier to replace the Yorktown.

However when I received the Yorktown there was a VB-5, VT-5 but no VF-5 so the carrier has no fighters. The only thing that may have caused this is that a fragment of the 'Original' VF-5 ( VF-5/1 ) is still present at Lunga, but I have never been allowed to withdraw or dispand this fragment, neither can I upgrade it from F4F's or assign more pilots.

Is there any way around this, other than assigning some Marine Fighters onto the carrier ?

Try getting the fragment to the CV.

Also try disbanding an F4F4 group in the same hex as the fragment, the planes might migrate and help your situation. The best way to do this is to fly the group your going to disband back and forth a bit until it forms framgents of it's own, then send one fragment to the Luga and disband it into the CV fragment.

I have moved the Fragment to the Carrier, but as it has 1 plane, it cannot really fragment any more. I don't have any navy F4F's left ( the upgrade to F6F's is under full swing )

I think I will just have to live with F4U's on Yorktown.

Put a CV capable fighter group on it.
They start arriving in late 43.
It's a reasonable replacement for the lost one.[;)]
