SP3 sound issues with SB live MP3+

Post by Maciejewski »

I installed a SoundBlaster Live MP3+ sound card and now I get scratchy sounds with my Steel Panthers III game. I tried reloading the whole game in Dos mode and then in windows but the sound FX still comes out scratchy. And I also tried all 3 of the SB settings in Setsound.exe
(it said each time that they were recognized, but no cigar)

I have win98 and a AMD 400 CPU.

I know this is not a SPIII forum but,
Any Ideas out there?

Hello

SB Live cards are notorius for their non-standards. For some reason their designer ignored industry standards when it comes to bus settings and such. With some chipsets this is not a problem as they allow more 'slack' but especially VIA equipped motherboards may have this sound problem.

I'd check the chipset/soundcard/motherboard manufacturer websites for a file that is named 'Livepatch' or like that.

Hopefully you'll get the sounds working.
