Unloading Troops

Post by Windfire »

I had two fleets in the sea area and I wanted to unload only from the one fleet. I highlighted the specific unit I wanted to unload and selected the province for it to unload in. The game unloaded all units in both fleets into the province. This seems like it needs to be changed as the unload is to encompasing.

I agree that this is the current behaviour.

I wish to expand on it. Even choosing to move earth-bound troopers to a province adjacent to a troops-loaded fleet would lead to disembarkation from that fleet. So be cautious to check there being no adjoining fleet with a troop-load before proceeding to make movements to a coastal province.

Are you sure that the units in the other fleet have been unselected before issuing your other move order? I tested this but can't duplicate it.

I could add some sort of safety feature so that units can't easily be inadvertently disembarked. Not sure how to implement it easily... any ideas?

It's easy to duplicate. Start 1805, move both Brit fleets to London, embark one army on each, sail both out to the English Channel. Next turn, select one army and disembark it. Both will disembark.

This is in line with the other disembarkation bugs I reported here:

I'm pretty sure of what I'm certain about. \(^o^)/
While clicking on a fleet, you will always find more than this fleet have actually been selected (with circular marker"s" at fleet counter"s").

Eric - Carnifex and Naomi are both 100% right - I have seen this behaviour many times, and can duplicate in 1.1. I am surprised you didn't see it - somethign special about having a debugger attached, perhaps.

The solution, I think, is that in the routine that disembarks the unit, put in a check that the fleet containing that unit is currently selected. If not, cancel the diembark order. That should catch all instances of the bug I think.
