I: I'm a progressive guy , but, when it comes to baseball, I always associate it with history and nostalgia. Players seemed to get more respect from the media, and their image was even protected by certain reporters. All that mattered was their performance on the field. A classic case in point is Joe DiMaggio. Even under the microscope of the New York media, he somehow emerged unscathed.

III: Early on, in my draft 1946 league, I'm seeing that average batting/pitching stats for the two leagues are not too far removed from historcal averages.
