RunTime Error 76

Hi Shaun, Installed 2005 Gold tonight (previous user) and all was well until I tried to build a historic association. The application recognized Lahman, went to the creating association screen, but on the "Importing Year 1947" screen, I get a error message - Run-time Error 76 : Path Not Found.

Any advice on what I can do? Thanks

I got precisely the same error when I tried to create a fictional association. I set everything up fine but as soon as I advanced to the initial draft screen up popped the box.

I was able to load the association after the crash. It all looked fine, but I got the same error when I tried to enter the initial draft or when I tried to look at the team settings.

I'm running Windows XP.

Are you guys both previous users? Did you copy over files from your old PureSim folders by chance?

Can you try something out for me? I have a debug version of the game available that can give me more info on what exactly is causing your error can you please download it and copy over your existing EXE?

Donwload and unzip this file to your
"c:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition" folder. Then try again. It should give you a more detailed error with the option to mail me the error report. Go ahead and send it. I will then probably be able to determine exactly what is going on.

It sounds like some sort of install issue related to having the previous 8.21 version installed or maybe some mixing and matching of files across the 2 versions...

Anyway, here is the download:

OK, thanks for sending that error report. I figured it out. It looks like you copied over the photocache from a previous version of puresim. This should fix it:

1. Delete the file photocache.mdb from the c:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition\mods\faces folder

2. Create a folder in the c:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition\mods\faces folder named "Generic"

3. Copy all of your fictional player faces into that folder.

4. Re-start the game

5. It will tell you that it has to rebuild the photocache, let it do this.

You should be all set after that! Thanks for taking the time to pass the report along!
