Every time?

If so there must be some sort of configuration issue. I have posted a special debug version of PureSim that will trap detailed error info and give you the option of sending me a report. Could you download that and give it a try?

Download www.puresim.com/puresim2k5.zip

Then unzip it over your current EXE (Typically in the c:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition folder)

Then do what you did to re-create the error and be sure to send the report along to me. I can usually diagnose the problem within minutes given this info.

Sorry for your trouble, I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out quickly.

I have seen the same error when I open up the lineups from the pregame screen. I will download the debug version and send you the error report.

Thanks for the handy version!

Issue fixed ... but new issue...

Post by scooterzz »

In the manner of so many things computer, installing the debug executable not only fixed the problem, but now the game plays just fine without the debug version in place.

Go figure.

I have noticed, however, that the first machine I tried the game on takes an inordinate amount of time to get from the Matrix splash screen to the PureSim Main Menu screen. 181 seconds, as timed. This might be what another poster in the forum reported when he observed that "nothing happens" when he tries to open the game. Perhaps he's just not waiting long enough?

I tried the game on a second machine, and it loads up in 11 seconds.

Weird, especially as these are both laptops, and not substantially different. In fact, the "slower" machine has double the RAM of the "faster" one, and only gives up a few Mhz in CPU speed. Everything else - virus scanning, loaded utilities, etc - is the same.

Any ideas about that?

Are you using player faces? If so then I have seen this on machines with extremely fragmented disk drives.

My suggestions are:

1. Disable Virus scanner (Just to rule it out)
2. Defragment your disk
3. Go back to the release version

BTW, I'm not sure the debug version actually "fixed" the error, it may be spurious and coincidental that it went away..

Strange, but I haven't been able to reproduce the error with the debug version, either. I haven't tried going back to the original executable, yet. I guess I'll just have to play around with it some more!

Error 91 on Game Startup

Post by scefalu »

I was able to get an Error 91 on the game startup. It seems that my computer doesn't like the in-game sound being on. I tried to send an error report, but Outlook crashed on me. I'll keep trying to get the error report to you. Who knows? I may discover a few key steps along the way.

So if you shut the PureSim in game sound off you don't get the error?

So far, I would say that that is true, but I am not entirely convinced of that. Let me do some testing with different sound settings and actions and I'll email you the results. I should be able to get to it sometime Friday night.

How do you shut off in-game sound if you cannot open the game?

Perhaps I wasn't entirely clear on when the error occurs. The crash occurs when the game goes to the baseball stadium screen, after selecting "Manage Game" from the schedule screen. I have no trouble getting PureSim to open, nor do I have any trouble with navigating through the various screens for the league.

Sorry for the confusion.

Error 91 followed by Unexpected Error

Post by kisner »

Playing second year of a league begun in 1901. Typical routine is to quick-play in 1 week chunks. Several times I have encountered the following (but not after every week of play):

After viewing the newsletter, I get "Run-Time Error 91: Object variable or With block variable not set." Previously I had a system freeze after one of these, so I try to exit to Main Menu so I can quit game. Sometimes (but not every time) I then get this: "Unexpected Error: -2147418105."

I run Windows XP and the beta 1.1.
