Ok...Now I'm lost

Post by Grand_Armee »

I've been playing Prussia almost exclusively since I Dl'd the game. Economically I've had a routine down pat. I was able to stockpile food with no problem...as well as everything else.

Now, my food is evaporating like water thrown onto a hot woodstove. My people need 74 food. I'm producing 156. 30 food are being lost to taxes. I'm not exporting it. None is showing as waste. I've built no depots, and I don't have a single soldier inside a garrison. I've never had to resort to the last.

The other powers seem to be building up food nicely...up to about 300 each in the first few months of the game.

Any ideas?

How much food is being spent supplying your troops? If you have a large army, this can add up to a lot of food... It also varies depending on which of your units are in-supply.

Note that in 1.2 units in garrison (in a city) are always considered to be in-supply but do not consume food during the supply part of the movement phase. Some of our beta testers think that this makes it too easy to stockpile food now!

Ahh, go ahead and name that dirty Beta tester who thinks that

oops

sorry R

hehe

well as France, I was able to fight my way though, till I got enough food

Grand, in your province screen what does it say about food, by the adviser (telling you want you need)

it will either tell you , you are hungry, you have enough food to sustain your pop, or will tell you, how much your pop should grow

as long as it is one of the last two, you are okay, if you show the first one, you need to add more labor to food production

you may have troops in your lands, bad weather hitting ?

if you need food, and can't grow enough yourself, trade for some, or take some

amke a treaty and get another nation to let you use there supply depots (don't know how that works for supply rules ???)

if you not at war, trade one or more of your armies for something, the nation that takes then will feed them

how far are you into the game ?

I will go have a look

what diff are you playing and which campaign

on normal, 1792, I am doing okay

one thing I was thinking, how many troops are you building, you may be pulling more pop from your lands, then you have to support it

I've been playing 1796. I started anew this AM and things seem to be working fine. I have tons of food now. But last night I was down to 2.

The only thing I did different in this game was to go to war with Austria immediately.

I always play normal difficulty level.

The Dev advisor said I had enough, but I was panicking because I didn't have any stockpiling for use in wartime. The learning curve gets a bit trickier in this version. I've never imported cotton before. Now, I find I need to in order to keep making more than single digit numbers of linens. Still, it's tough.

Kewl at least you got it running

my run, I was doing, the seen Aus was kicking in France, so I sent my small army over to help out, I took Saxony, went to war with Sweden over it, France surrendered, then Bavaria asked me to protect them, so over all, I am looking good, I took 2 provinces from France, and the one I was in, liberated itself, so I am taking that also

I am up to 15 province in about 8 months

I have not been able to get a treaty with anyone, but the surrender

Like I said in my treaty thread, I can't give nothing away no matter how much I'm loved. I love the POW thing now. If I catch them abroad I march em' back to Prussia. Someone might want to consider teaching the AI how to use irregulars en-masse. AS singles and doubles, they're almost useless.

Treaties seem to be completely broken, or the rules for them are completely different now. [&:]

Playing Sweden, I offered Britian (who I am at peace with): 50% reperations/surrender/And to defend them and they rejected it. Huh?

Then I offered France (who I am at peace with): surrender, ceded a province, and 50% reperations and they accepted it.

No country will accept my "standard" alliance treaty anymore: Declare Alliance/I pledge 1 year of enforced Peace and 1 year of enforced Alliance. The AI would accept this treaty about 90% of the time before but its a no go now it seems.

I am definately confused. [&:]

The AI valuation of treaties does seem to be universally broken. I'll work on it and try to get a new build up as soon as I can.
