Day/Night operations

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Day/Night operations

Post by RUPD3658 »

In ver 1.0 (the one I have) I used a little trick that I discovered by accident.

If you took a RAF night bomber formation and had it shuttle bomb (return to a different base after hitting it's target) the fomation would now be usable as a daytime unit.

I was never happy with night bombing so I used this to convert units to daytime units.

I would like to be able to do this without using the shuttle since the units would get broken up if all of them did not fly the shuttle mission.

Maybe it could be dome like in WiTP with "Night operations" being an option.

hmmm

yea, you making a Det out of the Group, and if it is a different command in control of the base it should revert to the style the base is (does this work this way if sent to a BC base ?????)

hassle is, they don't get reinforcements

the Idea from WitP don't sound bad, don't know how fighter cover would work

Hassle may be, that in the Paf, they did change back and forth, while in the Eto, it was more BC was at night and the other commands were during the day, so not sure if they want to give the player that option, but it sounds good and workable

interesting Idea !!!!!

I think the option of day/night operations is a must. Later in the war, as the Jagdwaffe had been largely defeated, Bomber Command switched over to day bombing more and more in order to increase accuracy. Surely the entire point of these games is to see if you can do better than the historical leaders. The flexibility of optional day/night ops would be a great help. It would mean that BC could target pinpoint or hardened targets in the same way that elite squadrons like 617 equipped with special earthquake bombs did in real life as the war progressed.

if we can, I would like to add the chance to make changes to the unit

bombers, if they are day or night, weapon loads, wing loads, and what not

BUT

we have to see if the programmer can do this, if so, we will try, if no, oh well

Thanks very much for considering it. I am a longstanding fan of this game and have been very impressed with the improvements made in later titles by the same design team. It would be great if this huge game could benefit from the later improvements where possible to give it that final polish that it always lacked.

Having seen WitP, I cannot help wondering whether the Battle of the Atlantic and/or the Med could get similar treatment.

Thank you for breathing new life into these wonderful games Matrix.
