1) Male, Yes
2) Is he a dead Male, Yes
3) Did he live 1800-1899, No
4) Did he live 1900-1999, No
5) Is this he person Nautical? Yes

Hint, he had places named after him

6) Is this he person a Spaniard? No
7) Was he an admiral? No

… before you go too far down this track, it may be fair to point out that he was not a Sailor but an Administrator. Apologies, maybe I should have quantified that at 5) Yes … but not a sailor

8) Is this he person English? Yes
9) Sir John de Beauchamp? No
10) Alfred The Great? No … but there is a strong food connection here (Alfred famously burnt the cakes [:)] )

Hint, this man gave patronage to a Cook

12) John Montagu Spot on! 4th Earl of Sandwich, 3 times 1st Lord of the Admiralty, had Sandwich Isles (now Hawaii), and other places connected with Montague named after him by, James Cook.

The clue for 15 would have been ‘Legend has him responsible for a convenience food’ which seems now not to be the case, see http://www.sandwich.org.uk/news.asp?id=21

Just in case the link doesn’t come through Google ‘the World of Sandwiches’ UK pages

Someone else want to set one up ?
