Not Twenty, Just one?

Post by RBWhite »

I was going to do this as a twenty guestion, but all the Hints I could come up with probly would have made it to easy. So.

Who was the only US Navy Admiral During WWII (1944 to be specific) to hold the rank with SIX STARS?

In 1899 Congress made Admiral Dewey, Admiral of the Navy.

Congress also decreed that Dewey would "always" be senior to all other Admirals.

Dewey was designated by an act of Congress in 1899 to be senior to all US admirals.

Not far down the road from me in Lorain Ohio is Admiral King High School.

Pershing got the same deal BTW, though Washington is senior to him.

Would this be correct?

Westmoreland: 5 Stars (I forget did Abrams have 5)
Pershing: 6 Stars
Washington: 7 Stars

Geroge C. Marshall, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Omar N. Bradley, Douglas MacArthur, and Henry H Arnold all had US Army 5 star rank. I don't believe either Westmoreland or Abrams did.
