Little strangeness in CHS1.06

Post by Sardaukar »

Port Alice, Vancouver Island has one static base force. It demands 30 000 supplies !?! Even Pearl Harbor don't demand that much ! Any ideas why ? Base force seems to wither too even when I dumped 70 000 supply there.

IIRC, the West Coast/Canadian bases require 30k supply in addition to normal requirements. It is tied to some hard-coded base numbers.

Only reason I can think that a BF could wither would be if there is not ebough support present.

Argh..Port Alice don't have land connection to mainland in AB map 4.03. And the BF seem to suck huge amount of supply per day too, no support squad deficit either. It's down to (73/89) or such. I checked the TOE and I don't get what it's trying to replace. It has all Fortification*-units in place (only thing I'd think to grasp as much supply to replace).

That's the only reason I can think of as well. I might have to tweak this unit...

I believe the extra supply requirement is for all Ports assigned to West Coast or Canada Command.

It seems to settle down now a bit..BF is back to 84/100 and rising. But it did hog 30 000 supply in less than 2 weeks. I have no clue where all that supply went...unit screen tells it requires 60 supply.. Go figure.

The WC and Can ports require 30k + whatever units you have. However, it doesn't use that much supply in a month. I think the requirement is so that supply will move overland to these ports and you will then have a lot to be able to load AK's. Imagine trying to load AK's in Seattle, LA and SD if the port requirement was 100/month? You'd never be able to load ships in any amount of time. The 30k requirement means that lots of supply will move to these ports for loading. The bad side of this is that ports like Port Alice, Prince Rupert and such will suck up 30k supply in the early days when you may want it to stay in San Fran.

The reason your LCU was withering is probably because the port is in a cold weather zone. It'll wither until March and then it'll be ok.

Well..I stil wonder where that supply went..since Port Alice is on Vancouver Island..which is island and not connetcted to mainland. Base Force seems to heal now, though.

One of the recruits from Toronto thought that he saw Sasquatch and blew up the powder magazine in his bumbling attempt to get out of there...Now you've got to rebuild the whole mess!

You would think with all that Canadian spam that resource requirements could be cut way back!

Sorry if this is answered somewhere earlier. Andrew Brown, I recently completely reinstalled witp, all the way to version 1.6 then installed CHS and scenario 154, w/ your standard map.

I have noticed that some land units are not moving after getting orders.

This land unit was supposed to be 330+ miles or kilometers away from Sydney but they are still IN Sydney. Is your Land Unit movement file not included in your CHS map?

Finally, while I have been playing witp for a while, this is my first attempt at the CHS (great job everyone). Are the ANZAC units able to be moved away from Australia, without a HQ change? Thanks in advance.

I will see if I can duplicate your problem.

Regarding ANZAC Command - Yes, it is a restricted HQ, which measn that you need to change HQs for a unit to move it out.

Hey, maybe all static base forces could/should require MASSIVE amounts of supply to abstractly attempt to model some sort of civilian population requirements?
