A way to store your excess A-4's without crowding the hangar deck?

I still haven't found any story to go with these, evidently it was recent.

Though it certainly doesn't qualify as "fun", this is the obvious example of what can happen if pilots don't take care to fire their ordnance over the side of the ship while on deck:

There is a two hour documentary on the "Forrest Fire" (USS Forrestal) that they show in boot camp to scare the new recruits into taking damage control training seriously. (It made an impression on me.)

In it, you watch the flight deck fire fighting team (dunno if it was "crash and smash" team, might be a different team) rush forward to fight the fire, and then a 500lb bomb "cooks" off, wiping them out. The flight deck cameras caught the whole ordeal.

Uh Huh... I went in about 18 mos. later. And, I went to fire-fighting school in Charleston from the ship. Being the short stocky type, they put my tookus as the nozzle man on the engine room fire. That is one piece of brass you don't want to let go of - PERIOD!!!

I tried that in CFS2 with a B-25... It was more of a touch and go landing.

Also tried it with a B-17.... stupid carrier's Island got in the way of my starboard props [:D]
