Treaty question

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Treaty question

Post by TexHorns »

As Russia playing 1792 scenario, Sweden surrendered to me. In my surrender treaty I had Sweden cede a province back to Prussia and had Sweden retire a 3 star general. The rest was reparations.

The next turn I got a message that the treaty was rejected. (Thought it couldn't be rejected.) I then looked at treaty screen to propose new treaty. Was not able to propose new treaty. I also was no longer at war with sweden and the countdown of enforced peace had begun.

So I wasted many russian soldiers and a 6000 point surrender. I got nothing out if this, plus i have to wait to declare war again. Has anyone seen this happen before?

what it looks like happened, if you can go back and look, Prussia rejected the treaty

may sound odd, but what you should of done was take the province you wanted Prussia to get, and then make a deal with Prussia to give it to them

Surrender Treaties should only be between you and your enemy

Yea Sarge, I considered that, but thought I would get opportunity to redo the treaty. Why in the world would Prussia refuse a treaty that gives back to her one of her original provinces? That sounds like a bad AI.

OX, in the game Prussia is down to one provice, Magdeburg. By allowing Prussia to regain some provinces it allows for a rebalance of the game. Prussia acts as a buffer between Mother Russia and all the wolves of western europe. Besides based on some the other posts if your empire gets too big it becomes unprofitable. I have all of Poland, Finland and major chunks of Prussia and Austria as we speak.

As an aside, it is interesting that 5+ years into the game Russia and Turkey have yet to go at it, although angry red faces abound between our diplomatic states.

Yikes, I can see the reasoning now. The more diluted the pool, the better the chances for significant gain. [:D]

There are implications about your kindness:
Prussia might've deemed staying as tiny as a nation-state would be in its interest, or one more province would make little difference, hence its decline of your gift.
There is no real buffer in COG, given there are always tendencies and possibilities for your enemies to trespass the buffer sphere to lend you trouble.
A caveat follows that you need not be so kind, as your targets don't necessarily take it this way.
