Here the CO is advised to put up a fight and then high-tail it to Charter Towers. There is no discussion of relief from the South. Interestng also is how the point defence adopted by WITP players (b/o of unit resources and game mechainics) mirrors, in many ways, the historical situation. Nice job by the game designers.

A seaplane base on Green Is. 180 miles from Rabaul seems to have angered our enemies. They bombarded the place last night taking out 2 PBY's and now some transports are coming. Fine, the USN can tell when it is not wanted.

We don't use screenshots in this AAR because we write it as if we are participants in a real ongoing war. There were no screenshots in World War II.

It is a war that is less deadly and much more absurd than the real war, but a war none the less.

You have to ask Captain Mandrake to make one of his excellent maps. Though in this case the map would be pretty boring, since it would just show lots of troops in one hex in North Burma.

I must commend Captain Mandrake on his maps. I'm using screen shots in our AARs, which I find effective enough in telling the story, however, Cap Mandrake's maps definitely take the prize in detail and authenticity.

Col. Cole, USAAF, CO 5th Bomber Group and Acting Air Adjuvant, SWPac: Sir, we lost 19 Wildcats and 16 P-40E's over Port Moresby today with the destruction of perhaps 11 Zeroes and 1 bomber. I know well the 49th FG CO, Maj McCoy. He feels those kinds of losses are not sutainable. I am afraid he may be right. That is a ratio of losses of almost 3:1 to our disfavor.

Gen MacArthur: Colonel, isn't that why we have replacement aircraft?

Col Cole: Sir?

Gen MacArthur: To replace the ones we lose Colonel. That is why the US taxpayers are buying all those shiny new planes.

Col Cole: But sir, what about the pilots?

Gen MacArthur: Damnit Colonel. That is why we have pilot training schools. The Japanese aren't simply going to give up their intention to seize Port Morseby. We have to MAKE the stop. You dont think the CO of that Zero squadron isn't wrestling with the same kind of thinking right now? You tell Maj McCoy I want every operation P-40 up in the air today. Same goes for the Marines. And I dont want to hear any more of that defeatest talk.

Col Cole: Yes Sir!
