19th century period pieces...my wife somehow managed to get the remote away from me and turned on "Finding Neverland" or some such tripe (johnny depp should be ashamed)...snoring in under 20 minutes...

i have to admit, most are "at the right place at the right time" ribbons, awarded to various units i was attached to, including VP-40 and the USS Carl Vinson....nothing near as worthy as a bronze or silver star...

I work shift work, and therefore I need to sleep when I have to. I have found a combination of the following works well:

1) 2-3 hours before you intend to go to sleep, go for a relaxing walk outside in the fresh air for at least 30 minutes. Breath in deeply as you walk.

2) After you get home have a nice soothing hot bath. The hot water will relax you.

3) Dress in loose, comfortable clothes.

4) Believe it or not, there is food that are natural sleep inducers. After my bath I usually eat two slices of whole wheat bread topped with natural peanut butter and honey. Along with this I will drink a mug of warm milk.

5) I will usually eat this food while watching a TV program.

6) I also darken the windows to my bedroom with dark garbage bags and wear ear plugs.

7) On the rare occasion when I really need sleep, I will take a sleep-inducing pill called "Sleep Ease". It is an over-the-counter sleep inducer.

The above always works for me. When you work shift work you cannot afford to go without sleep. Hope this works.

EDIT: I should add that working out in the gym can't compare with being out in the fresh air. I have tried both, and the fresh air wins hands down. I have found that 30-45 minutes running, walking, doing push-ups, etc outside is worth almost two hours in the gym. Breathing in stale, sweaty air does little for you. There is just something about breathing in all that fresh air, especially at this time of the year, when the air is cool. I am lucky to be living near large areas of forest, where there are lots of paths...

Cheers!
