To Buy or Not to Buy-Bugs-Price

Post by Mart777 »

Read about the bugs, read about the patches and read everything else I could on the problems but being an avid Uncommon Valor player I could only conclude this is the game for me. I should recieve my copy this weekend and will be playing as much as the wife and kids allow until work monday morning.
My advice is BUY.
The hours you spend playing will more than justify the price. One night in the pub/bar or months if not years of enjoyment there really is no choice.
See you in the Pacific when I get to grips with the controls.[;)]

"It also looks like last bug causing land units to vanish has been fixed and pilot problems resolved. Debugging the program has been an overly long process, due to the many, many, many, many, many user requested features added to the game after release. All of which cause bugs which had to be fixed."

When the lead programmer makes a statement like the above it gives us hope and bolsters our confidence. I'd buy the puppy if you enjoy the subject matter. Bugs and design issues aside, this game has given me more bang for my buck since SSI's 1982 Guadalcanal Campaign and the more recent Railroad Tycoon series and Tropico. Hey don't laugh...Tropico is quite entertaining when in need of a mind vacation.[:)]

I accidently put Henderson field into a TF once and sailed it up to Rabul in GC. I still have it btw. And my old Apple IIe. I have most of the old SSI games for it. Used to love bomb ally and USAAF and Fighter Command and [:D]

Is there a version of Rail Tycoon that will run on an XP? My old copy doesnt.

Try to use Dosbox. not a 100% but works. MS vitrual PC is outstanding software, although it should've been included in XP for free. And last but not the least - bootable floppy with ole 6.22. Although you'll have to refresh your knoweledge of EMM386 and memory manegement under 640K.

No one has complained more loudly or stubbornly about the game's problems than Mr. Ron. Nonetheless, he finds it an enjoyable game. What more do you need?
