What would you do regarding amphibious research?

Post by Lebatron »

I just started to play with the new patch and was curious how others would approach this new problem/strategy regarding the need to research transports. The level is now 2 with the research set at 6/17 to get to level 3. So we need to spend 11 research points to represent developement of amphibious landing tanks and such.

What I'm curious to know from others is whether you would spend the max of 3 per turn so that level 3 would be availiable in 4 turns. Spring 1941. Or would you prefer to spend the 3 points per turn on other things and wait for example till the US is at x4 production multiple before expending any research on this.

One thing to consider before you say get it right away is the defense of England. Overspending on this tech that is not really needed till later may result in England falling into Germany's hands.

Just put any spare points into it until x3 or x4 production. Then you really invest. Kind of a cross between the two.

I think I'd start the spending early but might not be consistent about spending the max. I would point out that it will probably end up being cheaper than it initially appears. The WA have something like 50 transports at the beginning - some of which will probably be lost to a Uboat campaign, and several will certainly lost when Japan attacks.... So this is an example of a tech getting cheaper as the game goes on. [;)]
