Saving progress when uninstalling

Post by freddo »

Hi There,
been playing Steel Panthers for a few years - recently purchased the Campaign games version. Have progressed quite a ways into some campaigns especially Africa Korps. Now I have to uninstall the game for a while. I'd like to know if there is a way of saving my "place" so that when I re-install, I will start from where I left off.

Yes, and it's not too complicated...

1. Create a new file folder on the desktop called Matrix Saved Games.
2. Open your Matrix file folder using Explorer and find the SAVE file. Each game has 3 files that should look similar to this: save001, save001.rec, and save001.cmt.
2. Copy ALL files found in the folder to the new file folder on the desktop.

Reverse the process to reinstall. If you reinstall the same version you should be OK. However, if you have an old version, say 7.0 or older, you may have some OOB problems develop, if you install a 8.4 veriosn with a 7.0 or older saved game. This happened to me a few years back.

Hopefully, the new 8.5 patch will be the last patch for a while so we can update the campaigns and scenarios! [:D]
