Actually, i think they had to abort introduction of camo in the ETO, because it looked too much like SS camo. I think a few folk got shot in "blue on blue" incidents before they withdrew it.

2nd Armored Division went ashore in France with them, and very quickly took them off again.

That looks like standard US WWII camo (I have some somewhere).

Pfft. Enlarge some of the trash on the ground and you will see a letter that says:

"Happy birthday Marine" and the postmark is 12/43, you can tell the letter was just opened by the lack of dirt on the inside, and the address on the envelope is Cape Gloucester.

Thats an easy one [:'(]

Pfft. Also cheating. Should be achieved by looking purely at the military material [:'(]

I agree totally.............
BTW, toe old TV series showed Vic Morrow's character wearing the cloth cammy cover on his helmet, but Dad said he never saw it used in ETO. I know it was tried, for about 2 weeks, but it was (as stated) too close to German cammy colors.
(The Shirmfalljaeger used them as well..)

Well, it's the enormity of my brain, obviously. Permanent crick in my neck for carrying the thing around...

That photo is in one of my WWII Pacific history books.[:D]

I thought PaK meant Panzerabwehrkanone. Which means anti-tank cannon in German. Maybe they really are SS[:D]

Nah, no Waffen SS gun crew would keep such a disorderly gun pit.

Yeah..I meant Fallschirmjaeger..They informally called themselves what I called them, as they thought themselves "cannon fodder" after Crete.. This was a VERY inside joke.
I made friends with a bunch of them In Frankfurt am Main, while stationed there. Don't know if the club is still there, but it was on Eschersheimer Landstrasse, about half a block south of Michael- Addickes Allee, on the east side of the street..
These were Luftwaffe paratroopers..
Now, I also had friends in the Waffen SS, but their club was on Kaiserstrasse, about 2 blocks north of the Hauptbahnhof...........
