Patch download help, please

Post by BigSnig »

I have several pbem games going with v 1.04.

Is there a way to download the new patch and begin a new pbem with it and not have it interfere with the current games?

Thanks

Hi Bigsnig,

Yes, there is.

1) Copy your entire WaW folder - rename the new copy to waw1070.
2) Download the patch.
3) When running the patch - specify the target folder as waw1070.

Now you have your present waw folder with version 1.040 AND your new folder with the 1.070 version. Just make sure to start the correct one when playing.

Due to some technical oddity both will show the version number as 1.070 when you start the game - but you can still tell that one is v1.040 by the placement of the PBEM box on the main page.

Thanks for the Help.

I would like to point out a source of confusion/bug. After 1.04 is loaded the menu screen shows 1.070. Then when you load a new game the boundries don't look that much different in 1.04 vs 1.07. It is only when you cycle through the turns to get to WA that you can be sure, by noting the tra invasion rating of 2 instead of 3 (and 3 tra moved to Pac).

The menu screen showing 1.070 instead of 1.040 is quite confusing and took me quite a while to figure out what was going on.

Maybe this point has been commented on before, but it would be helpful to have this caveat along side the instructions in downloading.
