Getting rid of Bolos

Post by spence »

PLAYER DEFINED UPGRADES ARE OFF!!!

In my PBEM I've got one group of BOLO's that are supposed to upgrade to B-17c's. There's around 35 BOLOs in the group.
Way on the other side of the world are all the B-17c's I have left: about 15 of them. I checked the replacement list and found that there are no replacement B-17c's and no production of B-17c's. It would thus seem that I will be stuck with these BOLO's forever.

My only thought for getting around this is to get the group of BOLOs into combat and severely depleted so that the remaining B-17c's (which will be in the pool by the time I manage this) can replace the surviving BOLOs.

Are there any other options anybody can think of?

How many B-17E's do you have?

If you turn on the upgrade and run the turn, the group will skip the B-17C's and go straight to the E's.

You have to have enough e's and supply of course.

15 c's won't help. A group can only upgrade if there are enough planes to fill the TOE of the group, not the current number of planes.
The older I get, the better I was.

They will jump to B-17E's when enough are available.

Putting them in combat won't help because you have to have enough upgraded planes available to outift the entire unit. I think it is a dumb rule, but that's the way it works. This really sucks when you have to upgrade an american unit that has 72 planes. though i have never tried splitting the unit to see if you can upgrade a fragment.

You have to have at least 35 b-17e's.

you can upgrade by squadrons. I do usually upgrade my groups 24 or 16 ac at a time
