Switch Hitters?

I’m confused when I’m watching the game play out. The Lineups window shows which way the player is going to take his at bat, left side or right side of the plate. However in the at bat window the player sometimes takes his at bat on the opposite side of the plate.
If that’s the case I’m not sure that makes sense , simple because a typical L v R match up was going to happened and he switches to batting L v L ? Not all the time but it does happen.
