a wish for WAW2

Post by WanderingHead »

I don't know exactly the best way to implement this, but I wish that the grind of front lines could be modelled a little better. Certainly WAW is much better than, say, Axis and Allies at requiring a supply line be maintained, but it still has a tendency to produce stacks instead of fronts.

One thought is that damaged units really ought to remain where they are and continue to count toward the 2-for-1 retreat requirement. It seems to make sense that damaged units can still contribute rather than disappearing. Maybe they should simply be removed to factories at the beginning of the turn of the damaged units owner, rather than right away.

It just seems like there is something missing. Spreading your forces along a front is just too much of an invitation to getting cut up, divided and conquered, whereas in reality there is always some time to respond to the kind of buildups that in WAW would be the enemy stack going after one of your smaller stacks.
