Commander Mortality in Detailed Combat

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Do commanders die too easily in detailed combat?

For future efforts, you might consider adding an "aggression" rating. Aggressive commanders give a better bonus, but have increased chances to become casualties. Also maybe instead of just being killed outright, there would be a small chance that the commander is taken "off the board" and comes back as a reinforcement at a later date, perhaps with reduced ratings.

interesting idea... i would also increase the chance that the commander is killed in a defensive action while disordered, but decrease it while in formation, or attacking.

I voted for 'please let them die less often', but only just. I think it only needs the slightest of tweaks to meet my exacting standards ([;)]), so I wouldn't mind too much if it stayed the same.

What about a player selectable variable? If players don't like commanders dropping dead, disable this option. If they do, keep it on (this would be the default option).
