I am about to obtain a copy of WITP have been reading these forums the last few days obtaining strategy already have 2 200 sheet note pads of tips filled out and planning my first turn I can already tell this is the ultimate pacific war buffs ultimate game. I was just wondering if any of you have played THE COMPLETE CARRIERS AT WAR I have had this game for about 9years now and the graphic screens and general gameplay look like a possible motivation to WITP and its predecessor UV

Carriers at War is a great game. Was playing it back when the Apple II was a pretty impressive machine.

However, be aware of the the difference in scope between CAW and WITP/UV. In CAW, you are on the bridge launching the airstrikes against the enemy task forces.

In WITP/UV, you are sitting at a desk in stategic headquarters biting your nails, praying that the commander on the spot is going to follow your orders and launch those airstrikes. Unfortunately, you may not always be impressed with your subordinates performances (just as in real life).

Hope you enjoy the complexities of this game.
Cheers,
Reg.

Welcome aboard, I advise you to play a human opponent asap - the AI really isn't a challenge.

Let him cut his teeth on the AI a bit
