RE: Lunacy Games
ORIGINAL: Mogami
Hi, I just recently understood a major blunder that has impacted both Oleg and TH game.
Thinking I would overrun PI rapidly I assigned all the major formations their NEXT objective rather then Manila. Well now 90 days into battle ALlied units are certainly 100 percent ready to defend that hex while Japanese are 100 percent for objectives thousands of miles away.[X(] (Explains the repeated failed assaults I can't get attack bonus but defenders get theirs. These bonus can change a 6-1 attack into a 0-1
So, did my weak showing in the PI influence you? [:)]

RE: Lunacy Games
Here is April 2 1942
Air losses are high because of a combination of my failed attempts to attack KB in the South Pacific and Mogami successfully ambushing me in Burma on two occasions.
Ground losses will more or less double ( I think) when Manila falls. Mogami wants it in Japanese hands in time for the Emporers birthday, which is April 29th. I don't think it is a big suprise that supply is getting a bit low so it is possible he will meet that date. That will get him to 3 to 1, then I have to start clawing VP back to keep him under control.

RE: Lunacy Games
Mog's got 2:1 in VPs Tom, surrender already [:D]
Army loss points will not double when Manila falls - my guess is it will go less than 2k VPs up, to some 6k total (just a wild guess, Manila still holds in my game and I never did any calculations re VPs for Luzon army). It may be so because Phillipine troops score less points when destroyed.

RE: Lunacy Games
Well army loss points did not double when Manila finally fell, but they did go up quite a bit.
Air losses have been heavy on both sides and are starting to converge. This shows that I am learning from the asskicking that Mogami gave me in March 42. No more appaling massacres.
Japanese naval losses are up some, and mine are up a lot because of my habit of pushing AKs through dangerous waters. On they other hand Mogami's list includes the Fuso and a bunch of DDs and a CL or two that were not there before.
Some time in May 300,000 elite angry Japanese troops are going to show up someplace and make the war very exciting. Any guesses where?

Can't guess where.... but my guess is he will use different goals in your and my lunacy game. I guess in at least one of those games he'll go for Hawaii. (I am ready, hope you are too [:D]).
"My" Manila will most probably fall a month or so earlier than in your game (my game was slowed down because I travelled around in RL we just entered second half of March 42).
Most interesting game right now should be the one with Nomad, but we haven't seen any updates there for some time....

Well what the heck really...
I cut off the east part of the map as there are no IJN forces there (that I know of)

June 1 Intel Screen
Changes:
Allied air losses are up 693, Japan is up 630. Zero bonus is gone, Allies have improved their over all position and managed to ambush the Japanese here and there. Bloody on both sides.
Allied army losses are up 172 as the final units in the Phillipines and NEI get mopped up. That is the end of big allied losses until Mogami launches another major land campaign.
Japanese losses are up 30, mostly due to action in China. His loss rate has slowed because China was quiet in May.
Shipping losses Allies are up 336 points from the loss of 16 ships. Half of that is the USS Idaho that went down during the battle of Espiritu Santo.
Japanese losses were 120 points on seven ships, much of that from the Battle of Espiritu Santo as well.
Both sides saw their base points increase, the Allies are now at 3234 up 107 and the Japanese are at 3349 up 175. 15 bases actually changed hands from Allied to Japanese, though this number sometimes fluctuates as there are several Chinese cities that we trade from time to time. Victory ratio moved in favor of the Allies, from 2.5 to one to 2.3 to one.

July 2 Intel Screen
July 2
Allied air losses are up by 632 from last month Japanese by 583. Mogami is still hitting me a bit harder than I hit him but I hope to change that soon as the Spitfire numbers begin to climb in India and occasionally venture into China.
Japanese army losses are up 144 and Allied are up 96. Go China Go! Part of this is the defense of Changsha and part the capture of Tsingtao.
Finally I lost 25 ships for 407 and Mogami lost 9 for 242. I think it may take ship upgrades and better radar to fix that, since most of the point difference is in cruisers sunk in the bruising battles off Luganville.
Still not a bad month and things ought to keep getting better as July and August move forward.

RE: July 2 Intel Screen
Ma MAY 1st screen. It's not comparable with last from Tom because his is June the 1st, my is May the 1st. My screen should be compared with his May screen above. By this time, our games are very very different in how they play.

RE: July 2 Intel Screen
BTW I went into negative PPs because I said to Churchill and First Lord of Admiralty to *sod off* when asked to return BB + 2 DDs. I now proclaimed myself King of India and no longer take orders from them wussies in London. Do you remember the movie Man who would be King with Sean Connery and Michael Caine? Well you have rough idea then LOL
I have accumulated very high amount of PPs I'd say, before doing this (~2400 by end of April).

RE: July 2 Intel Screen
Actually that is July up above not June.
Looking at my May screen the point scores on both sides seem to be twice as high in my game. 17 Japanese ships to 40 in mine, more or less double losses in the air.
It is interesting to see how the games diverge and will be interesting to see what happens to the scores over time. I have Mogami under control now, he is not going to go off and crush India or sieze Noumea, but I have not been able to move the score in my favor yet, except on land in China.
