Patton vs Bern - CHS AB - Allied SitRep
BERN YOUR ARE NO ALLOWED TO READ THIS THREAD. [:-]
I'm waiting the first turn from may jap opponente.
We'll play scen 155, CHS AB ext map. This is the first time I play CHS.
The house rules are the following:
- no historical
- dec. 7th surprise on
- def upgrade on
- fog of war on
- allied and jap sub tactics off
- No attacks agains allied CV and Forze Z on first turn.
- no landing possible in Australia until march '42 due to the
lack of lines of communication and impossibility to transp
units by sea (this house rules will be eventually discussed
in the next few turns)
I'm reading with interest the AAR of gen Hopener vs Hawker.
My tactics during this game is simple:
I'll try to defend and always defend. I want to delay as possible the advance of the evil empire. Later he'll get the DEI resources better will be for me.
In an other PBEM game as allied I'm applying the opposite. For example, in the PI and Malaya, I retired the forces in one single garrison, like Singapore and Manila, and I'll try to stand more than I can.
Sure the tactics could be modified, depending on what he will try to do.

Hi George,
I also looked at the CHS extended map but still did not play it so it will be interesting to see how things pan out.
Good luck pushing back the Japanese hordes,
Esko

Hi.
I'm still trying to understand the CHS but it looks nice. Well done AB!
Today, 10th of december, the japs occupied Lingayen, but I had ordered before the evacuation.
In Khota Bharu, instead, my troops repulsed a japan attempt to conquer the city.
As seemed the other turns, Bern is proceedings very carefully.
The KB is sailing at full speed in direction SW, trying to chase my carriers. The Big E and Lady Lex meet them and now are sailing away from the enemy. For the moment no action are planned agains enemy base. First of all: save the flat top.
On the West Coast the reinforcement for Canton I. are loading on to the ships. We'll see if they'll arrive in time.
The evacuation from the PI of the few LCU (or piece of them) that is possible to save is postponed, due to the strong presence of the Imperial Navy around the archipelago.
The fleet in PH is in very bad conditions. No one of the BB can sail to the West Coast, by now.
I'm trying a desperate attempt to inflict any damage to the KB, transferring some planes to Johnston I. Just a dozen of planes of different types: B-17, SBD, P-40. The pilots are all volunteers and probably tomorrow they'll be dead, but also one good hit on one of the jap flat top, will be a great victory.
The Force Z and the ABDA fleet are meeting them to form a strong surface force that will attempt to surprise the japan navy.
Meanwhile single ship TF will be formed up to raid in to the DEI.

Best just to leave any ships hit during PH in PH for a few weeks. No real hurry to send them to West Coast when PH is such a good repair yard. Also dangerous to form TFs so early when KB is still lurking about.
I noticed that Utah did not perform as the Allied Fanboy "bombsoaker" in these attacks as well.[8D]

Yes for the Utah [:)]
I'll keep anyway the damaged BB in PH for a long time. The floating level is very high and it would be very dangerous to send them out.

I don't post every day because the situation is not stranger than the normal.
Bern is conquering Malaya very carefully. Same history in the PI. Non landing in Borneo or DEI for the moment. In China some of my guerilla units have been repulsed.
The only big news is the sinking of BB Pennsylvania in PH, 9 days after the Jap attack!

Finally my opponent is coming out.
In Burma is advancing in direction on Lashio-Mitkyna, both already falled in jap hands.
In Malaya we are still fighting in Khota Bahru and Taiping.
In the PI is come closer to the triangle Manila-Clark-Bataan. The rest of Luzon is in his hands.
A TF has been spotted in the Solomon Sea, sailing in direction on Buna. Admiralty Is. have been already conquered by jap.
Two strong TF have been spotted in the Moluccan Sea moving southwest. Probably Kendary will be the final destination.

Ok. I made no AAR since 10 days. And a lot of things happened.
Bern is expanding is territory.
His forces have occupied Canton I. and have landed in Pago-Pago.
My coastal guns fired upon his ships and scorel dozens of hits.
Today, a day air attack agains Singapore was extremely strong.
I had only 6 Buffalo and 2 Wirraway to contrast 52 Nell and 27 Zero, but my pilots have done very well and they shot down 15 Nell and 1 Zero, damaging another 22 Nell. I've lost 1 Wirraway and 3 Buffalo.
The third shock attack in Pago-Pago has been repulsed. I think that I can resist there.
Unfortunately
In Malaya I retreated all the forces to Singapore but the garrison in Khota Bahru that fall today: 12300 prisoneers.

Part 2.
I said, about Pago-Pago, that unfortunately a TF approaching to Pago-Pago has been teletransported to Canton I. and landed the troops there. The troops have been lost in a shock attack. [:@]

I have PoW, Repulse and all the ABDA surface fleet intact in the DEI. I can't decide how to operate. It's better the whole fleet togheter or small TF raiding jap convoys?

SOUTH PAC
The japs are continuing to land in Pago-Pago. The CD guns are doing a good job, hitting several times the enemy warships, BB included.
The ground shock attack with two Nav Gd has been repulsed. I inflicted 332 casualties to the jap and I've lost only 15 men.
SOUTHWEST PAC
An enemy surface TF bombarded hard Rabaul. 178 casualties.
Lae has fallen. I think he will start to build up the airport.
MALAYA
Great day for the flak in Singapore. 15 Nells shot down, and 15 damaged! [:D]
In Johore Bahru the japs reduced the fort at 2.
CENPAC
Several enemy ships appeared at Midway. I suppose he will land tomorrow. I evacuate the Catalina squadron. Not too bad. Midway will be the training range for my ships.
SW PAC
A lot of movements along the north shore of New Guinea. A think he will occupy Salamaua and Buna.
The 2. Inf Div has landed in Rabaul. I'm counting the days.
Now I have the 2. USMC Div en route to South Pacific. I have to decide where to land it. Canton could be a possibility. But also reinforcemente in Pago-Pago. And also a strong garrison in Noumea could be an idea, but there I could transfer a NZ brigade instead.
I have my carriers not too far away from South Pacific. I really don't know where KB is and this scares me a bit.

Near Menado the TF leaded by the PoW, with Repulse, CA Exeter, 6 CL and 6 DD met, during the night a jap TF including 2 CA, 3 CL and 15 DD.
Not much happened: 2 jap DD on fire and then the jap TF fled.

Tavoy has been captured by the jap.

In Pago-Pagohe tried another shock attack, but the jap men conducting it were only 73. The jap garrison is composed by 3 Nav Gd Bn. So I suppose that they are near the end.

CL Katori took 13 bombs and several other minors merchants ships are heavy damaged.
I spotted now an enemy TF running SW, towards my position. Intel says there are 2 CA.
Why are 2 CA running towards my 2 CV? I think the 2 CA are 2 CV. This is meaning KB.
So I run away at full speed.
