Well, those German raiders were anything but little and lightly armed. Also Sydney was a Light Cruiser, not a heavy. Her Six inchers were about on par with the raiders guns. Still very tragic.

ya the raiders had decent guns, sum armor, and had very good range and sank maybe 100 ships or more total

i cant remember the stats

r u sure she was a CL?

i heard she was CA[&:]

maybe im thinking of a different ship...

HMAS Sydney (Ex HMS Phaeton), a Perth class light cruiser, eight 6"/50 guns, 9,000 tons full load. Max armor 3in belt, tapering to 1in.

HSK Komoran 6- 150mm/45 Guns (5.9in). So, they weren't all that off in firepower, and Kormoran was more than capable of piercing her armor.

Perhaps you are thinking of the COunty class Devonshire, which sank the famed raider Atlantis on November 23, 1941.
