1.07? Low Evasion Tournament

Post by MrQuiet »

Edit- Low Evasion Tournament Has Started

Hello All:

If I can get 7 players to sign up (I will take the 8th spot) I will run another elimination type tournament.
The rules will be simple and it will start on the day that that all the slots are filled. The latest 1.07? beta patch will be the version used.

Latest version of 1.07(beta if not officialy released)
Adv supply
AV on
End Date on
Fuel on
FOW on

One house rule for this tournament:
Max Evasion for all units is 1 over world standard

There is no max on any other teck.
This should cause much diversity in the players strategys.

Players will have 48hrs to return a turn or e-mail there opponent informing them when they will send the next turn.

The winner will advance to the next round. In the event of a draw the Axis Player will advance to the next round.

You may choose which side you wish to play on a first come first serve basis.
If you are interested post here with your e-mail address.

I am interested. I would like to play the Axis this time.

I might suggest playing with the beta version rather than holding for the next official non-beta patch though. Afterall the beta status is only really with respect to the TCP/IP part.

I further suggest that Heavy Bomber land attack need not to be capped at WS+1 - otherwise making the a-bomb is impossible.

Hi Jan:

You probably read through the rules to fast but Evasion is the only teck capped thus land attack is not capped on Heavy Bomber or any other unit.

Interesting twist MrQ; I'll give it a try.

Give me Axis, but I'll switch if necessary.

Check out my latest post in the beta thread regarding the next official patch timing. You'll notice that it will be several months at least before the next official patch. I agree with Jan that you should use the 1.071 beta version. It is really only beta because of the TCP/IP part and because we were looking for feedback on the data/balance changes. I feel confident the changes make for a better game so you should go ahead with it now and not wait (it will also give us some more feedback on the changes).

I just saw your note about capping evasion at +1 over WS. You should allow Heavy Bombers to go further over the cap in my opinion or the heavy bombers are artificially kept low (it was the one world standard we had lowered below all the starting values to make it expensive to build). Obviously you are free to use whatever rules you want, but I wanted to point out this item to you in case you want to adjust for it.
All understanding comes after the fact.

I just read your post about the timing of the next official patch, I did think you were much closer to a release. Its to bad you guys have devoted so much resources to tcp/ip, I really never could understand why so many players want it. This game is ideal for pbem, but I would not even consider trying to arange to play it real time.

So it looks like using the beta patch is the way to go if we want to start the tourney this year. When I have all the slots filled the tourney will start.

Can I and another guy (Radmeister or ElMagnifico) play as a team in one of the slots?

I dont see why not as long as the two of you can return the file to your opponent in 48hrs.

Which side do you prefer?

Due to the severe lack of interest I may have to cancel this tournament.

OK Mr Q,

You can sign me up if need be. Side=it doesn't matter. If this goes I will have to DL the patch.

Thanks Joes for your input.
I have given this some thought and have decided to hold it to the same tournament house rule as all other units. So in order to make HBs truely effective they will have to be escorted by other air units. I kind of like the historical value in that also.

Merry Christmass fellow tournament sign-ups.
This post has been edited and the best loser advancing idea has been dropped since we now have a full tournament.

I'll sign up if there is still a spot open. Prefer Allies but will take either side.

Due to this post:
Unfortunately, we found some problems that need to be addressed between the US and international versions. We are taking v1.071 Beta offline for the time being while we sort this out. Please note that v1.071 Beta will not work for US vs. International online play and should not be used by International customers, contrary to my earlier advice.

We're working to get a new beta and hopefully soon after the New Year, official update out to you all that brings everyone into sync.

Regards,

- Erik

It is necessary to find out:
a) if everyone in the tournament has the 1.071 beta patch. If even one does not have it then we will hold off until the next beta release.
b) if anyone in the tournament is useing the international version of the game. The way I read the above statement, international users need to wait for the next version of the patch, and so we would also hold off until the next release of the patch.
