I kinda like the RO boats personally. They have good maneuver values which means they do better against allied ASW than the big fleet boats. Plus, their shorter range means that they'll be closer to a port when they do get hit.

They're great for commerce wars off the Australian coastline. [8D] I-boats are for CV huntin'.

I think the RO boat do fine. I had one, the RO-63 I think, hit three ships in three days near Lunga. Check out our AAR (Emperor's Champions) for more details... (shameless plug[:D])

I agree about his Turkey being out toooo long. Rather creative though...

Largest ship my Ros have hit in either of my PBEMs has been a CA. HELL--I am happy when they simply hit anything! Far better then during the real war (with a few notable exceptions)!

That may be the most effective place in the game to place those boats. The thing that's sweet for Mark VII (RO knows BB's[:D]), is that now his opponent is seeing RO's in his nightmares, probably giving up on Wake. Then again, if he doesn't escort those BB's any better he might as well just drive them up to Tokyo.

It seems to me that with the shorter range boats, you use them mostly in the sort of role that Mark VII used them there. Where they're not hopelessly far from the nearest base (such as pitting them against OZ would be in many cases).

she does....but not to that extent. Actually I was scheduled to be dragged over to GF Mk I's parents for a traditional dinner, but unfortunately an impending death in the family ended up canceling everone's plans. [:(]

I was just reading the CombinedFleet site. Evidnetly, most of them weren't terribly successful either.

Most of the tabular record of movement read like this...

1. Recieved orders to intercept TF-58.
2. RO-xxx did not respond to hail for status update.
3. RO-xxx did not respond to 2nd hail for status update.
4. RO-xxx presumed lost with all hands.
5. RO-xxx stricken from active list.

[X(] Yikes. Leave it to me to make a joke that backfires into an insult. [:(]

My condolences.

Thx.

No insult. You couldn't have known. None of us did.
