What to buy BiN or BiI?

Battles In Normandy is the third game in the Decisive Battles game series. Battles in Normandy recreates all aspects of the Normandy campaign, from the landings on the first day to the final climax of the campaign at Falaise. Strategic Studies Group rewrote the Decisive Battles game engine for Battles in Normandy with a host of new special rules for amphibious and airborne operations, plus a huge number of other enhancements.

What to buy BiN or BiI?

Post by Freedom205 »

Been away from SSG for way too long,(played all there games to death up to Korsun Pocket) and dont know which game to buy? I like the idea of the Normandy battle better, but I hear the game was improved in BiI. Also, which of the two has for available scenario downloads from Run5?

Thanks

Hmmm, there's not much noticable difference between the 2 games engine-wise. I think the main difference is that BiI supports bigger maps and more units so it allows larger mods that BiN - like the monster east front mod in beta at Run 5. There are plenty of downloadable scenarios available for both games at Run 5 though. I personally enjoyed BiN more than BiI, but that's just because I think the Normandy invasion is a great fight when well modelled in any game. If you get BiN, make sure to get JSS's great 'On to Paris' variant from Run 5. I don't even play the standard game anymore - 'On to Paris' is a much improved model of the battle IMO. If you can afford it, get both! [;)] Hope that helped some....

I agree, both BIN and BII are similar enough engine-wise, while KP is somewhat older in terms of engine features. Guderon described it well. There are great scenarios on Run5 for each game to add to the list that comes with the default installation, including the just-released Italy campaign. Either way, you won't go wrong.
