RE: CV Kaga and CVL Ruiho sunk at Makin Atoll... Japan Surrenders???!!!
I think it is time think future with this game while I'am waiting for the 1st turn to arrive... I do not have much knowledge about Hawker but what I read he seems quite an capable and agressive IJN player...
Here are my future ideas...
1) KB is lurking around Makin and Tarawa atolls. This means I still have chance to inflict some serious damage it (I operate in the assumption that he will retreat his naval forces towards Truk or Marshall... and maybe even towards Japan but that is unlikely to me) so what I'am planning to do is try to engage it one more time with my CV fleet before he is in the safe waters.
I guess that sounds reasonable.
2) Once I'am certain he has nomore CV's and major naval assets near Tarawa than it is time neutralize these atolls. This might take few weeks but I guess this in sensible thing to do.
3) When I do have an foothold on Tarawa and nearby islands than it is time turn and push through Marshalls... I don't know whether he will oppose these invasions so I'am using LBA's and allied navy to gain the upper hand here.
3b) There will soon be an offensive launched in Burma. I have sizeable forces nearing Myithkina and once these troops are ready I will start my assault againts Mandalay.
I'll recieve sizeable tank regiments within a month or so but I'am not sure whether to wait these troops to arrive. Actually I might be better of just using the Chinese and British units at my disposal.
4) China... well this is the tricky one. I have been content to just bombard his resources here last few turns. I don't know whether I will be launching any ground campaigns here soon... propably it is more wise to wait and see what he has planned here.
5) I have some LCU units in Midway at the moment... These units are preparing for Wake Island/Marshall Island invasions... When to use the units is yet to be decieded.
Here are my short term goals.... number one thing now is try to catch KB while he is still in hostile waters...!!! I think I can inflict serious damage to it if I'am lucky enough to intercept it... the best case scenario would be that he is looking for this fight and if so than I would assume that day would be glorious one for allies... [;)][:D][:)]
I actually think that Hawker can be very scary opponent... so I must be on my toes constantly [:-]

RE: CV Kaga and CVL Ruiho sunk at Makin Atoll... Japan Surrenders???!!!
after the marshalls whats the next plan ? Gilberts or bypass and maybe head due West.. re-take wake and starve them out may be an option.
Good luck chasing the Cv's however i do fell maybe you should hold back as its not his fault KB was mauled. it will be out of comission for wuite some time anyway, why not leave him a few more toys to play with ? Its coming to the time where Jap cv's are becoming floating targets anyway [:D]

RE: CV Kaga and CVL Ruiho sunk at Makin Atoll... Japan Surrenders???!!!
I really don't know yet... Tarawa and the surrounding atolls need to captured... that's for sure.
Marshalls are one obvious target too.. [:)] I'am actually quite tempted to put Solomon's out of their misery too... but that operation requires quite a lot of troops... however even this assault could work fine if the KB is not around along with the Japanese heavy BB's.
[:)]... You have a good point... maybe I should show some mercy. Let's just say that if he moves his navy towards Truk and such he's safe. I will not move my CV's far behind Tarawa and Makin atolls but I patrol around those atolls until these islands are captured. If this results to CV vs CV battles than that just happen but we will be much wiser soon enough.. [:)]
According to Hawker he should have his 1st turn ready tonight.

As for the rest of China, considering N China is alrady japanese held it seems logical to press the advantage, at least untill he has a better grasp of whats going on.
Well done on Baker .. they surrendered faster than frenchmen !

RE: Bloody days in China... Allied massacre IJN infantry at Baker Island...
I have some + 200 Spitfires in the pool at the moment... There are not that many Spitfire squadrons but I will soon recieve those planes that I disbanded earlier [:)] ...I simply can not have bomb my troops at Kweiyang to dust [:-]
One more thing I have forgot to add is the fact that there are no confirmed Japanese CV, CVL's nor CVE's sunk so KB is fully intact so to speak.
Yes, he does have most of the Northern China... Allthough I still hold defensive line at Sining. There are some 80 000 Chinese infantry there.
