7/3/40 Japan invades China

China
7/03/1940
1800 Hours

We have been given orders to advance against the Nation. We will be facing hordes of Chinese there is no doubt. I have given orders to load up with ammo to carry all they can. I am sure we will be outnumbered. I am not too sure if there will be alot of armor comin at us for I dont know the extinct of the armor the Chinese can muster.

A will advance in the south B will be center and C in the north. All companys have only maybe 200 yards to get to there objectives. So we should get there before the Chinese then all we have to do is hold them. The southern one sits at the base of a long hill that runs from the SE to the NW 750 Yards long and 400 Yards wide. The center objective sits almost dead center of this hill on the foothills of the east face. The north objective lies NE of the north fave of this hill maybe 150 yards. The rear objective lies at least 1100 yrds to the rear of the center. It is clear and the vis is only 300 yards due to the heavy and very dense saw grass that grows all over the place here. Once we are over the hill and headed towards the rear there is alot of open ground to cross.

Our plan is to move forward and capture the objectives and to set up a good defense line and wait for the counter attacks we are sure to come. They are famous for attacking in force and in human waves we have been told. Engineers have been told to lay some mines if this is feasable. Our men are eager for the battle to begin and are up to this challange I am sure. After all we beat the very strong Russians in 39 not just once but twice. I am confident in our ability to fight and we will not retreat I am sure. It is just not in our bodys to surrender.

We have taken all 3 objectives and are holding along the line. They have come at us in mass all along the front. Wea re mowing them down as fast as they appear in front of us. Have taken out at least 10 LMG squads so far. Blew up 2 tanks on the south flank and two on the north so far thats all the armor we have seen. So as to mass all the firepower together I have ordered all units to move into the front lines. We have moved to the east base of the long hill that runs almost the full length of the map . This means that we have captured the objectives and advanced maybe 100 yards past them to the hill. Will hold here till the Chinese have had enough then will move out 50 yards at a time for the move towards the rear objective. Will more then likely take at least an hour and then some to reach the rear objective in time.

Dont want to wait too long before we make our move then we will have to move too fast. This is what causes way too many lives haste makes waste as they say. Our orders state that we have a little over 3 hours to accomplish our mission today. there is no reason why we should not be able to do this. So far the Chinese have done what we expected. They have come at us in waves four so far and we have repulsed each one with little are no trouble so to speak of. Our only real problem will come if we begin to run out of ammo for our troops. I have told the artty to ration there shots but to keep up a constant rain of death on thedre lines. This is to be accomplished by firing only two batterys at a time . No more then two will fire at any given five minute period. Hope this will extend the time period to at least two hours of constant fire. Our mortars and fg will only fire one unit each five minute period of time.

Not a lot has been comin over from there side this means we havent had too much damage inflicted on us from there artty. All in all the day has gone as we expected with our side getting the best of it. Maybe 40 lives and no equipment have been lost. In a battle of this size that is very good news. Banzai banzai banzai glory to the Emperor.

We have broke there back only an hour into the battle and we broke them. There head on rush too protect the objectives did it to them. Took out maybe 10 more tanks in the last 25 minutes. Our pin point bombardment also smashed there lines. By not using every piece and allowing some to hold back we still managed to have some ammo left even after a whole hour of hitting them every five minutes with a bombardment. There massing of men close to the front also caused them a great loss in life.

All companys have moved up on the eastern slopes of the hill. They have begun there move towards the rear objective. I would say maybe another hour and we should be close to taking the battle field away from the Chinese today. At close quarters as this fight has been all day the knee mortars are a man killer. Took out a couple of tanks with them today. I would say we have lost maybe less then 75 men so far where there losses have to exceed a 1000 if not more. The withering fire we have laid down its lucky anyone from there side is still alive and moving.

Now is when the ground troops will out distance there ATGs and Igs as they make the mad push too the rear. We have some trucks to move the guns but not enough to move them all to keep up. But the terrain is fairly open so maybe they can get off some shots over the heads of our troops. I will try and use the trucks in a shuttle type of move. getting the more further behind and moving them up then repeating till all of them are close enough to the front line to help in our advance. Will move our troops at least 100 yards each time if possible in order to accomplish our mission for the day.

Glory for the Emperor and for Japan.

1955 Hours

Almost two hours into the battle and we are pushing the Chinese hard. They are in full retreat towards the rear. We have moved to within 100 yards of taking our last objective. Ran into some artty sitting north and south of a small village. Took all four out with no loss of life on our side. All flanks are pusing hard on the Chinese heels as they run to the rear. Small pockets of resistence has been met and dealt with as we push to the rear objectives. Have run into several light tanks as we advanced. These were taken out by our troops using mostly knee morters. The morter is deadly at close range of under 200 yards it seems.

Our losses have been kept to a minimum while we are taking a terrible toll on the Chinese. They have lost at least a 1000 men while our losses are less then 100 i believe. They also have lost at least 10 tanks while our losses have been only one tank who moved out in front of his infantry support. if I have told them once I have told them a dozen times there is no hurry take your time we are moving fast enough,

This will be another glourius victory for our Emperor and our country. The men have performed above the call of duty once again. I feel hounered to command such a great fighting force.

The battle is over and the field is ours. All Chinese have been eliminated. Only a few artty have not been found and destroyed. All troops have been eradicated except for one lone LMG crew which was running for his life. 2848 men were killed while we lost only 31. Ten artty were found and blown up along with 12 tanks. We lost one dumb tank who advanced beyond his support and paid for it with his life. Didnt really matter was going to court martial him for disobaying a direct order anyways. Would have lost his head more then likely anyways.

Our men fought with the ferocity of a tiger today. No quarter was given and none was asked for. The standing order was do not take any prisoners. Any Chinese who tried to surrender were not given the chance too.

Sgt Akune will get a citation for his bravery today. Right at the end his squad from Co C third plattoon second squad got there 36 and 37 kill. Took out a 70MM can and finished off a short squad of Chinese all by there selves. They lead all squads and tank platoon in kills.
Have decided to send them back to Tokyo For a much needed rest and relaxation and to impress the home guard into training harder.
They will be on tour for the next six months as national heroes.

We have not recieved our orders as yet so we have no idea where we will be for the rest of this year. Or who our new opponents will turn out to be. But who ever they are I have confindence we will do our duty for oue country and for the Emperor to our dying breath.
