VAS IST DIS MEIN FUHRER??!

Post by BossGnome »

No i just wish I was playing germany sometimes instead of japan because they have cool accents. Anyways, here is my little problem. It is exactly august 7th 1942, and i am playing the japanese, not player defined upgrades (old game that started in 1.2). Of course, the new army planes (KAI Tony and the Tojo) are starting to come in, to thankfully replace almost all of my army planes. Up to this point in this game, I have only used the army planes to a) fight in china, b) do nothing. I tried fighting with nates a little bit in burma, but when I figured out that they had an about 1-1 kill rate VS Buffaloes ([8|]) I decided to not make them fight, to save me the points. But anyways.

I look in the new aircraft groups arrival dates. Hey thats nice! In 9 days theres a 36 planes new oscar group (the new one not the old crappy one), that is coming in...but wait, no oscars are producing yet! They're still being researched! And um, it says in my little Aircraft replacement pool that the new oscars come in december...

so whats going on? I HAVE been researching the oscars like crazy (my research of those planes is at 110 now), and so will I get them in august (oh joy!), or will the airgroup just sit there doing nothing until it gets the planes to fill it (december)? If it is the former, then when will my factories start actually producing the damn plane, instead of researching it? On the day the airgroup "arrives"?

thank you for the help!

Since no one else has answered your question, i'll give it a shot:

This has been noticed before and discussed on the forum, but, not (yet) being a Japanese player, i really didn't take too much notice about the answers. You might try looking in past threads (a problem, i know) for a more definitive answer, but IIRC - you get the planes, but i think any replacements don't show up until you actually do start producing the planes.

A row of hedges should be planted around this answer, though, as my memory on this is highly imperfect.

The group should arrive equipped with nates but if you loose planes you will not get replacements, as the pool ist empty. See it as experimental group of prototypes.
For your german accent thing the correct spelling would be: "Was ist das, mein Führer"

He doesn't want real German, he wants the kind of pidgin German actors playing German soldiers use in the movies. "Wir haben ein plan fur die Frenchmenschen. Erst, ve zenden in die Pantsers, und zen ve senden in die Depantsers ..."

I think pidgin Japanese is great, too. Just ask Cheech and Chong ("Captain! You outta you f****** mind!").

"Aaah, yankee dog. You invent automobire. Velly nice. We take it flom you. Buird it bettel. Serr it back to you. CHAHGE YOU MOAH!!!!! AH, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Take a look at the original English version of Charile Chaplin's "The Great Dictator." The parody of the German language there is absolutely hilarious. Also take a look at Monty Python's joke that won World War 2, you can find it on the web by doing a Google search.

Like so many other things about WitP, nobody really knows, including those who created it, fed it, fixed it, and loosed it on the unsuspecting world. Design and maintenance by a cross between Drs. Caligari and Frankenstein...

Good luck getting any kind of a helpful answer. The only way to find out may be to play on, see what happens - and then be thoroughly p1ssed when the game behaves in some unpredictably bizarre way.

By the way, Lt. Calley, the Three Stooges did some pretty good parodies, as well.

If your Oscar IIs are set to arrive in December your research has already paid off and may yet again. They are set to arrive in Januaury if nothing advances.

Any groups set to arrive before you start production and have planes in the pool will sit in the que "organizing". When you have produced enough planes to fill the group it will appear at the designated spot and deduct the planes from the pool.

In the stock game I do not recall having any Oscar II groups set to arrive before December. Perhaps you are playing a mod?
