For a moment there I thought there was some new information, then I noticed this thread was not started by Marshall.

Although I agree with ktotwf, St Cyr may have his uses. There are some strange people who are having fun wrinting under new articles in hompages 'I am the first poster', but this kind of passion may draw attention (e.g. from MG) towards our beloved game, which is sorely needed IMHO.

I offer KUDO's and admiration to this design team for it's determination to get the product right BEFORE selling it to the Public. PLEASE..., no more rush job, half finished and totally screwed up efforts like WITP.

Mike,

I think you are being harsh on WitP. Sure it has a few bugs. But none of them (even in the initial release) were game killers.

The problems people seem to have with the game come from design decisions, or rather design short cuts. Considering the huge size of the project and the small resources and potential market I can understand these. Even as I (sometimes) curse the land combat model, weak production system, AI, large combat problems etc. But they are not bugs or things that would have been sorted with a few more months development. They were fundamental decisions made early on - presumably for cost reasons. All things considered WitP is still a very impressive work considering it's scope, resources allocated and potential market. I and many others still enjoy playing.

As for EiA I can wait too. So I agree with you there. I don't however expect perfection out of the box. Not from a company this size and it's likely market. As long as it's playable and there is the commitment to fix any bugs that occur.

I agree with Mike and find it difficult to be too hard on WitP. For me to enjoy playing it as it stands would require a lobotomy of a severity making Randall Patrick McMurphy's look like hangnail surgery.

I think your comments, though, are right on the money, Hop, as usual. I left a post on Ralegh's new thread pleading for integrity in the EiA design process. I hope you concur.

If you think the ground combat is bad in WitP (which it is) just wait until the enemy troops retreat 4 or 5 provinces in EIA. You'll just love the realism.[:D]

Yes it is not the most realistic game, but what game is? Furthermore, for the realism that I would love, it would take 15 dvd's, 5 for the install and one for each year.[:D]

Don't forget leaders, who can move at 500 km/h in a day where the steam engine was considered high technology.

I dont want realism as long as I get historical options, the same ones confronted by the leaders we are representing in the game.

Thank you Pippin, this gives a very good impression.

3 Questions pls:
Looks like the Portugal AI got angry
- was there a roll for the control of Portugal ? Or are the minors always controlled"by the AI" ?
What horrible timing for Britain too, the month being March, means she wont be able to collect a cent on this up-coming economics phase.
Are you sure about this ? Cause you assult London after the economic phase, so during economic phase London is still under control of GB, by this GB should be able to perform an EP.
and to top it off, I banned him from trading
Huh ? What kind of victory condition is this ? B.6. is "loser should not trade with GB or with America", C.7. (only vs GB) is "half of all money by trade must be given to the vitor for the next four ep". IF GB would be banned from trading, no trade except american trade would be done at all...

St, one disclaimer is that this is still Beta. That means what you see is not exactly what you will get. Part of the mechanics, and graphics are still going through some changes, and the beta soldiers are casting their votes still on even other elements.

I did skip a few steps, but I didn't want to make a 50 meg walkthough, though I will see about perhaps trying to fill in a few more things over time. Again, nothing is cast in stone exactly yet.

BTW, yes I've noticed as playing as Spain, the British AI LOVES to declare war on portugal right off the bat. She doens't back down either so this will put Spain at war with her if she really wants it too. That little piece of land is worth quite a bit of manpower and gold (especialy for spain). I wouldn't want to see it get taken on me so lightly...
