Unable to get War in Russia to run in Windows XP

I have successfully downloaded War in Russia in a zip file. The problem is I am unable to get the game to run on my system which is Windows XP. What do I need to do next?

I have followed the steps in the thread you recommended but I am still having trouble getting this program to run in Windows XP. When I launched this program, a window DOS box appeared for a moment and then disappeared. Do you have any ideas how to rectify this problem?

TRY DOWNLOADING A PROGRAN CALLED DOSBOX. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I INSTALLED XP UPDATES. NOW I CAN ONLY RUN GAME VIA DOSBOX.
