Puts you in mind of an early racing plane.

Was it made by Fairey?

Looks a bit like a Polikarpov, but I don't know of any that didn't have external bracing

Borovkov and Frolov I 207/? maybe a 3
Looks to have a some features of a couple of different models, so it must be a late I 207.

PS: RB is right, kind of looks like a Gee Bee [:D]
