Manilla is the objective for me in this game, and I plan to hold it until the war ends.

The allies decide to attack one of our supply transports near Lingayen. Once again we had absoultely no warning of their approach. I don't have many DD Escorts to spare, so this poor transport was guarded by MSW Hatsushimo. Needless to say, the taskforce got nuked.

Another spoiling attack

Well, the combat report for June 20th was not saved. It's a good thing too, because it was another embarrasing performance.

One of our Surface Combat TF finally engaged the annoying DD TF that has been harassing Lingayen/Manilla/Bataan. I dont have the game in front of me but the TF was composed of at least 2BB, 1BC and numerous other ships. We engaged the enemy, and didn't sink a single ship. The enemy fled before they lost the battle.

Unbelievable.

Now my forces are getting into place. It won't be long now.

A couple of random thoughts.

- I am very disappointed in the poor performance of my Navy. I plan on doing a complete overhaul of not only TF composition, but TF commanders. I certainly haven't assigned the best of my commanders to any TF. All this will change in my next operation.

- The fuel situation is becoming a major annoyance. My ships are burning through it and can only last at sea for a few days, depending on their actions. Every hex that has a port, will also be holding fuel.

- Not enough Sub Tenders to meet my needs. I have converted a lot of AK ships to AS, but I don't expect them to be ready for 6 months. We certainly could have used at least 4 more to begin the campaign.

- My land forces are the only bright spot. They have summarily blitzed through the majority of their objectives and will hopefully soon be finished with major combat for awhile. They do get tired rather quickly in comparison to WITP. At least it seems this way to me.

- If the allied bomber pilots are inexperienced, it certainly isn't showing it. I think they've hit me with about 4 torpedoes, and numberous bombs. Thankfully it's only been about 1 at a time.

- There is still a long way to go, but I would rate my performance a D. I had a great initial plan, but the execution has been flawed. Not enough ASW. I can't seem to deal with Aeroplanes. My Surface Combat commanders aren't doing enough to protect my forces. And lastly, poor logistical planning in regards to fuel comsumption.

Things can only look better though. [:)]

June 22, 1926

Well, this was a pretty good day. Now that my subs have finally relocated to their new homes as well as the sub tenders, I can begin to make some moves with them. The action on this day centers around my subs.

Here we see SS No.36, which has yet to get into position, stumble upon an Oiler. Unfortunately for the crew, they will not make it to a home port.

Here we see an enemy TF moving to the SW. Intel thinks it is made up of several Heavy Cruisers. I beg to differ. As a matter of fact, previous to this, the subs which surround it hit DD Pruitt with a torpedo. It will be sunk within the next 48 hrs I am sure. A second sub got a shot at DD Pearcy. Neither time was a CA spotted.

As you can see by the photo, on of our own Surface Combat TF's is being sent to intercept.



Of course CA Huron could be in this TF, but I doubt it. They have probably left the area. I can't imagine much fuel being here for them, and our rules prohibit using neutral ports. Of course ships have been in an out of Manilla, so they could be refueling there. I'm pretty sure this is the TF that surprised my forces at Lingayen. Hell if I know, the fog sure is thick in WPO.
