How do upgrades work?

Post by mashkis »

I was trying to create a Q ship last night in one of the smaller scenerios and I could not figure out how to turn a large AP or CL in a Q ship?

Also, how do I know what kind of upgrades are available for ships and planes? How do you select them?

I could not find step-by-step instructions in the manual.

I think it has to be disbanded at Mare Island then converted.
There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

Yeah, and Q ships can only be created in the large campaigns, as it takes 180 days to do a conversion. But they are created at either Osaka or Mare Island, and they can only be created from Large AKs (Those with a capacity of 5000).

thanks. But is there a way to choose the different types of upgrades for ships and planes in the larger campaignes or the player has no choice over which types of upgrades to choose from?

With "Player Defined Upgrades=on" you can choose upgrade path for plane within its class, i.e. Fighter->Fighter, Bomber-
>Bomber, etc You also can downgrade if planes are available.

There is not much you can do with ship upgrades. Turn it on or off for specific ship. More data on what kind of upgrade it will be could be found in ship database.

Ship conversion is limited from AK(5000) -> to AE,AS,AR,AK(Q),ML(Q). Allies also can have conversion to AD.
