Kido Butai II

Post by SargeantTex »

I already have my second Kido Butai planned out with
Junyo
Hiyo
Shoho
Zuiho
Ryujo
Ryuho
I will probably use the Aoba class CA's and a CL with her destroyers as escorts.
I put all these together cause they all have the same relative top speed.

This will do fine (with some escorts) vs merchantmen and minor surface forces. They will not do well against a real enemy carrier force. Recommend adding some Seaplane carriers - to help with finding the enemy - and add a few bombs - on merchants it matters.

I agree with El Cid. When I am playing in the first year, I divide the KB into 3 TF. Two heavy CVs by Division (Hiryu/Soryu, Akagi/Kaga, Sho/Zui) with 1-2 CVL and then Junyo/Hiyp when they are finished. Each TF carries a little over 200 planes. That should be enough versus any two American CV in 1942. It has worked. Read my Wolfpack vs. John III AAR--I've sunk 3 CV and lost only a CVL.

Good Luck!
