Name this MWiF Counter - 19

No d@ammit, I'm going to beat Froonp at his own game [:)] Here's another 'Open' question with the fastest typist as the winner:

Which MWiF air counter had a variant nicknamed 'Pinball' and why was it so named?

I'll bet even Froonp has to Google for that one [:D][:D][:D]

Oh yes, the P-63, refurbished as a training aircraft & renamed RP-63A, surnamed Pinball because "over 100 microphones were installed behind the armored panels and rigged to indicate hits on a counter in the cockpit. A red light replaced the muzzle of the 37 mm cannon in the propeller spinner and was to flash each time the plane was hit by a frangible bullet." (from http://rwebs.net/dispatch/output.asp?ArticleID=57).
Funny this one, the guys must have had serious laughs when inside [:D].
OK, will go to eat now !

well at least I made him google [:(]

The Bell P-63C KingCobra had a 1500hp engine which could be boosted to 1800hp with water injection and armor plate increased to ninety kilograms. Although extensively used by Russia, the P-63 did not see combat service with the USAAF. One interesting postwar development of the P-63 was as a manned flying target for gunnery practice. The plane was covered with over one thousand (1,000) kg of armor plate and fitted with sensors that would detect hits. Special frangible rounds were developed that would disintegrate upon impact. The nickname for the aircraft was 'Pinball'.

I nearly always google, just to be sure not saying nonsense, and also because I often have the answer right on the tip of my tongue (as we say in France, don't know the english expression though) and can't put a precise reply immediately.
I'm aging [:(]

"Whad he say? He's maging? Tell that boy to speak up, Maude."

"It's on the tip of my tongue." is exactly the same in English.
