The Boeing P-26, nicknamed the "Peashooter", was the first all-metal fighter monoplane used by the USAAC and also their last open-cockpit, fixed-undercarriage fighter with externally braced wings. In many ways the B-26 symbolised the transition from the flying goggles and silk scarf school of air combat into the high-tech maelstrom of WWII. Its 600hp engine provided a top speed of 374kph and it was armed a 91kg bomb and either two 7.9mm machine guns or one 7.9mm and one 12.9mm machine guns. The P-26 was still in operation at the start of the Pacific War with some half dozen of these aircraft destroyed during the attack on Wheeler Field in Hawaii on December 7th 1941. The Philippine Air Force fielded twelve P-26's against the Japanese attack with predictable results.

Patrice, you should not accept the 24 hour delay.

This one was really really easy :-)
Anyway, it was answered before I could assess if I would be faithful to my word. [:D]

I try to alternate the easy and the hard questions.
How about I give them a classification?

* Easy = Grognards of Honor will leave these 'fish in a barrel' to the new players. I classify Patrice, Neilster, Terje in this group plus anyone else who wants to be seen as a hardcore WWII historian.

* Handicap = Grognards will give themselves a handicap and not answer the question for a fixed period of time. If 24 hours is too long then I'm open to other suggestions... 2 hours? 6 hours? Or maybe agree not to post until two other people have posted suggestions? I'm open to ideas on that.

* Open = Fastest typist wins
