LV Campaign crash

Post by Peters66 »

[:@] I'm having a serious problem with the LV campaign. At the end of a particular scenario the game crashes every time and I cannot proceed farther. The scenario does not have a number or node on the map but it's about the 14th one in at a collective farm, the first battle were one of my inf platoons is in halftracks. The scenario ends and the next one won't load as an OOB error occurs. Windows shows it as a mech.exe error. I've started the campaign and played to this point four times. I've tried making copies of the save game files and reloading when this happens but it does not work, the game still crashes at the end of this scenario. I have noticed one odd thing; the .rec file gets huge during this battle, 6-10 megs, where it is normally approx 300k. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks

I have determined that the scenario being discussed is Node 50 Scenario 139 designed by D.D.D.

At the start of the scenario the introduction text labels it as "Potapov Strikes July 12 1941" Malin Korostin Area

The Mission data shows July 13 1941 at 1700

On restarting the battle at turn 5 the introduction text reads

"The Kolkhoze August 8 1941 Malin Korostin Area"

Only somebody who is able to open the Mega Campaign campaign structure file can figure out what is going on here.

At the end of the scenario I managed to get the campaign to continue. The next scenario is entitled Potapov Strikes July 12 1941 but the scenario does not match. It is node 15 scen 46 and the mission data is 17 July 1941 at noon.

Perhaps Wild Bill can figure it out and post a patch?

They struggled with a ferocity that was to be expected of brave men fighting with forlorn hope against an enemy who had the advantage of position......knowing that courage was the one thing that would save them.
