Gary, is this for your mod?

Yes, this is for the mod I'm working on. Your new stock plane tops look great! May I use them in my mod? If so, would it be too much trouble to incorporate the six plane tops mentioned above into it? Yourself, Big B, CobraAus, Subchaser and Sarge (as soon as he gets some of his plane sides done which I'm interested in) will be given honorable mention in the credits.

Yes. In fact I alluded to this possibility in my previous post. I will try to have them done today, but at the moment I am performing Santa duties... just snuck away while the wife calls everyone in the family to tell them about her new earrings......

What CHS aircraft are you planning on removing to add these aircraft? There aren't enough art slots available to accomodate them all...

As far as I can find, the Ki-34 is the transport plane the Allies called the Thora, and therefore already in the game.

This is the Ki-56:

OK,
Tranports require no top art as they are not visible in the game. They only use side art, but still use up a top art slot. We only have so many slots available for art, far fewer in fact than we do database slots, and in my opinion since side art is all that will ever be seen of any transport they don't warrant the use of the precious few slots we DO have.

By the way, who is making the decision to include these aircraft in the CHS? As a charter member this is the first I've heard of an official change in Aircraft that would require new art and the removal of previous CHS additions made by Lemurs!.

Besides, Half of the requests are transports. Are "We" sure they are necessary and will have the impact that say another more important fighter or bomber might have??

Need the info...

One more request for Big B. The French CL Lamotte Picquet. Interned in Siagon during the war, I'm going to put her in Australia instead as a member of the Free French navy. Unfortunately all I have is a somewhat sketchy line drawing for a profile.

Thankyou!

Hello Gary,

I noted a couple more requests you had. I just wanted you to know I am NOT ignoring them - I am just taking a Christmas Hiatus from artwork till mid January. I am on my annual Christmas to New Years vacation, and am just relaxing a bit. When the holidays are over I'll get back to working on your requests ( but I really want to turn out the IJN cruisers first).

So be patient and I'll get "a - round 'tuit'!"[:D]

Merry Christmas![:)]

And Yee Shall, Yee Shall![;)]

Right now I am taking a look at HPS's Tsushima(X-Mas gift). I had to get into the Editor (imagine that?!) and fix it so the Russians would shoot back and have a chance of hitting something - so it would be fun.

I know guys here have said it's about as exciting as listening to paint dry - but Ilike it (I love those funky three funnled Battleships!).

When Distant Thunder is out I'm gettin' a copy!

Whew! Thought I'd lost you to HPS or something! [:D]

Anyway I'll try to stop the requests until after you get back and get other stuff finished.

Merry Christmas and thanks again for all the great artwork!

Hi Elf, did you ever get the opportunity to add those 5 extra Allied plane tops to your re-rendering of the stock plane top file? I apologize for being pushy. No rush though. [:)] I know you said you were working on them so I was just curious if you had already posted them somewhere and I had missed them.

Have a happy and safe New Year and thanks again for all the great art--making 2005 such a great year! [:)]

Hey Cobra - I found something else for you to do [;)]

Here's the Shiushu class fast transport/replenishment vessel. 630 feet long.

BTW I think I will be implementing Furashita's Fleet as my next project (with perhaps some other cool ideas from CanisD and a few others). So your shipsides will be seeing some use.

I have pictures if you want them.

But this ship should appear on the OTHER side! It could have been siezed at any time - and eventually WAS siezed by Japan!

I'd like to add two or three CLAAs to their building queue based on this model. I think it would have made a lot of sense for the IJN to incorporate a few of these in their fleet later on in the war.

There were some really interesting CLAA designs for IJN in real life - and one really implemented - but it was more of a CAAA!! Imagine, if you can, 12 5inch in pairs - while retaining some 8 inch as well. But my favorite is a sort of Mogami entirely outfitted with AA - like a French cruiser a generation later.

I can create a device for this aircraft. I have not added it to CHS - there are problems with engine slots - but I have figured out how to make it work - if anyone wants it.

A group formed up to use the J-8 - and was flying the unpowered version (they are all unpowered after 5 minutes - so this is not a trivial skill).
It is 312 Kokutai. I can provide more data on request.

Maybe the real historical version of this ship might be better!
The ancient battleship was converted to a radio controlled target ship.
In mechanical games we build a flight deck on her (she is a flat deck ship after conversion) and sail her as a target decoy. She was armored to take direct hits from practice bombs - and armored for real side hits from anything - so it is nice to have this fake CV take some of the heat of real ships - and there is no crew to lose either!
