RE: naval losses

Post by Raverdave »

The Aleutians and being strengthened only to forestall a possible nip attack. I have the troops and the aircraft spare so why not at least make a stand somewhere......beside it is US soil and I am always a little touchy when it come to protecting sovereign soil even to the point of trying to hold a bad tactical situation, but it follows that that is what would have happened in real life.

The two RN Carriers lost their fight for life when sneer decided to follow them down to Perth. There is a special kind of hell reserved for those whom would hunt down and kill a defencless Carrier.

I have made the out-lined the limit of the Japanese expansion that I will allow, Sneer is currently suffering "Victory disease" and I hope that he does continue to expand south and east..........the USNPACFLEET is at 100% and ready for operation "Golden Slipper"....the cheese is set, now to see if the rat will walk into the trap.

operation yellow almost finished

Post by Sneer »

however it started 3 weeks later than originally planned ( escort forces were busy hunting enemy shipping) it goes extraordinally smoothly. enemy forces in the region are almost non existing
kendari garrison was withdrawn by Raver and industry taken once again intact - thanks

looks like previous hunting on merchants and sinking carriers threw Raver off balance in the region
pity
I was ready to stand against RN and crush its last surface forces
it is potent force - at least 2 BB twice that cruisers and few DD to cover - good single TF . I prepared 3 adequate 2BB TF to cover and carriers to hunt remanents but there is RN in area.
AR ships were deployed and lot of Nells and Betty ready to use situation too.
And there is no resistance.
tough luck
Raver avoids fighting - can't blame him for changing tactics - I was expecting Pacific fleet supporting RN but still no signs of her.
east india area - I want to take Lucknow what can be difficult but I should have advantage in April yet. considering everything I decided it is last base I want to take. If Raver moves back I will not follow - this will be my first defence line in India. so i want to inflict as much losses now as my reinforcement abilities in this game are phenomenal and this fight will probably boost experiance of my divisions and regiments to high areas of 90ties

DEI area - only last bases of Sumatra are allied but not for long

Salomons /PNG and central pacific are building up certainly faster than in my other games. I'm tempted to go for new Caledonia but no bussines in taking empty bases - I would gladly go if few troops are put there.

I think meeting between Churchil and Roosvelt would be extremaly difficult and tense considering agressivnes and losses of commonwealth in comparison to US and capabilities of unharmed Pacific Fleet. whole situation is worth many Political Points [:D]

But it could also be argued that the Commonwealth forces are taking the brunt of the attacks because that is where you are attacking. The IJN seems reluctant to target USN assets now that the PI has been taken.

US Pacific possesions doesn't fit into idea od asiatic cooperacy zone [:D]
Raver wrote sth about trap. I think it was cruiser TF at Townsville...
weak argument IMO as I can expect lot of beuoforts and p-40 at this location and i would have to pay to high price in pilots.
I think Raver bluffs about any aggresive operation against Japan too. In worst case one or two of my bases will be pummeled to rocks -not a big problem to me.

Actually my Hudsons have been doing a great job over Lautem.......however now Sneer has moved some Zeros there which will make any further air attacks interesting.

hudsons scored few hits and one of transport may even sink but that is not a big problem to me

this game slowly but inevitably moves toward phase where both side can hurt each other no more
I prepared myself to defensive as all my objectives have been taken
I'm not 100% inflexible and when I see proper target I'll strike and later withdraw
I hope Raver will put some troops to closest region where proper reserve force is ready to be used - salomons , caledonia , santa cruz

Raver's gunners are finally getting the range! Sneer will have to get a bigger stick if he wants to prevail here.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

forces will double next turn :-)
Lucknow is already out of my objectives but thought about securing perimeter by denial of lucknow
If I can't take city than no real problem to me
2 BDE and 1 inf div in operational reserve ready to be used soon if needed - but only if needed
remember Karachi is not my target.
waiting for Raver's " golden slipper" operation whatever it means

Is that a ground rule that you and Raver agreed to ahead of time?

yes
edge map effect is totally not fair
at first I decided to occupy temporary but later decided to use smaller forces instead so I can say Karachi is not my target (churchill would move every soldier and ship to save india )
I wanted good strong perimeter and secure burma area from allied air power
there is no way to defend successfuly mandalay so I decided I will defend in east india
asanol - jamshadpur defense line - 5 cooperation airfields when allied can use 2-max 3 against - non malarial bases and production of supply in industrial complexes

I can't imagine how it could be possible IRL to take whole subcontinent with 300k troops in 2-3 months - it is half of Europe !!!
we adjust game to RL when it is strongly needed

i estimate that 6 inf div ( later more) + 5-8 tank rgt fortified and secured from the air can defend for a long time and I can keep perimeter secured in the area at least till 44
if ( or when ) china will be taken I can spare more forces to build defense even stronger

so Lucknow is not really needed but I want to fight a bit longer as i have very high reinforcement abilities in comparison with commonwealth (38k manpower and 25k arms now :-) )so Verdun style battle suits me well and push coounterattack from allies even further.

on the other hand with east india taken and china cut off and with destroyed industry I don't see a problem with Japan taking whole China

This was sorta my plan before the Battleship disaster at Trimcomalee. Advance up to a line between Jamshedpur and Asansol, maybe up to the river line near Benares. Now, I think we will be happy in the stinking jungles of Burma![:(]
