Cannot get the Lehman Database to work

I cannot get the lehamn database to work for me. I have downloaded it into the folder for Puresim...I have Windows XP. I downloaded the top version 5.3. I then unzip it into the folder and restart the game and nothing happens. Says it has not detected the database. Can someone PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Thanks.

Actually, I did what it requests and got the 5.2 version access 2000. I tried the 5.3 and the 5.1...NONE of them work.

1. Download the file to Puresim folder
2. Extract file into the folder (just the general puresim folder)
3. Restart Game


Nothing is detected....FRUSTRATING

You must be putting it in the wrong folder. The file "lahman_52.mdb" must be copied into the following folder:

C:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition

This will work (assuming you installed PureSim gold to the default folder).

That is exactly what I did and where I open it to.

I unzip it into that folder once it is downloaded. It does not read that I have it there, although when I look, it is sitting in there.

Within the Puresim folder, are a bunch of other folders as well. Does it need to be placed into one of these?

I had the same problem: The way I had the problem solved was to rename the 5.3 version "Lahman_52" and replace the file in the puresim directory. Hope that helps.

Note you must be using lahman_52.mdb, or rename lahman53.mdb to lahman_52.mdb for now.

They just released lahman53.mdb, so I'll look into releasing a little patch to PureSim to make it easier to work with the new version.

Here is the step by step process which I have undertaken to get this to work with NO success.

1. Go to Site for File as instruction
2. Save lahman 5.3 into the Puresim folder, listed as:

C:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition

3. Extract Files, as directed, into the folder listed above
4.Click on the file, and hit Rename file, changing it, at that point, to lahman_52.mdb
5. Close out all folders
6. Restart Game
7. Click on New Game
8. See it say "Lahman database not detected" for the 100th time.

Now, after doing all of this, and it not working, I decided to open the database to see what it says for a name in that subfolder, and this is what I get:

C:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition\lahman_52.mdb\lahman_52.mdb

It actually shows up 2 times...not sure if that is a problem, but I decided NOT to rename it and try it again, and when doing it, I got:

C:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition\lahman_52.mdb\lahman53.mdb

So, there it is. I did everything as instructed. Now, if what you read above does not contain a certain step, please let me know.

Just as an FYI, when unzipping it, I actually have renamed it from the extraction instructions AND then also tried renaming it AFTER unzipping.

Basically, I've tried it all.

I was able to download the new fix listed on the site with no issues.

Based on your note it looks like you created a folder named lahman_52.mdb under PureSim and then extracted it there, this is not correct.

#1. Download the 5.2 version (not 5.3)
#2. Extract it to C:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition
#3. Confirm in windows explorer that there is a filed named lahman_52.mdb in the C:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition folder.

Its as simple as that. You must be missing a step somewhere because I am 100% sure that it works perfectly.

So, when I click on the lahman 5.2 version off the site, and it asks me WHERE I want to download the unzipped version, you are saying put it somewhere else first, then go to that unzipped newly downloaded file and unzip it into the puresim folder?

One thing of note. When you click on the database initially, if I try and Open it right away without saving it first, it does nothing!! In the lower right corner of my explorer window it shows an action like it is downloading it, but then nothing happens, which is why I SAVE the database first into a folder, and then, unzip it from there.

if that is not correct, then I need to know how I can OPEN the database right from the site first without having to save it and then extract it. Do you follow?

In short, if at the site, I click on the database, you have 3 options: Open, Save, Close.

If I choose OPEN, it starts immediately trying to download it, but actually does not. Nothing happens.

If I choose Save, it then asks me where to save it to, and I have said the puresim folder. From there, I go into that folder, and find a zipped folder entiteld Lahman52. I then extract those files into the same folder I am in, and then, remove the database from it's newly created second folder. The database is now renamed, as directed, and I remove the 2 newly created folders, one zipped, one unzipped with text. I only did that because nothing else works.

I do not know what you really mean when you say to look for a file in windows explorer. Is that the same thing as clicking on my computer, C:, and then looking into the file?

Thanks to everyone who helped me.

The issue was, I was using some generic version to extract the file rather then an actual extraction tool like Winzip. I downloaded winnzip demo version, and then did what everyone has been saying and it works!

Now, I used the 5.2 version. If I want the updated version, I assume that I just do exactly what I did for that one as well?

Again, thanks for the patience and the effort. It really is a very good and addicting game!!
