The Global Times

I've often wondered exactly what that text under the "WAR ENDS - AXIS DECISIVE VICTORY" headline actually says. It's very muddy (at least on my screen), but clearly it actually says _something_.

With the human brain's amazing capacity for pattern matching, I could read the first couple of sentences but quickly lost the thread.

But with the aid of Google's amazing capacity for pattern matching, you can find that it is the text of a speech by Harold Ickes, President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Secretary of the Interior, in May 1941!
