1 day turns always.[:-] I am a bit of a micromanagement freak.[X(]

But I do have everything down to where a turn might last me all of 20 minutes or 2 hours for a massive re-deploy.

My tour was not too hairy, but there are always times that make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Thanks for the welcome back.

This is the first time I have really tried Nik's mods, but I know I hit Singapore during a dry run on day 2 and had 60 Nells damaged by flak at 15,000 feet.[X(] So if that is toned down, mercy.

Flak was reduced in comparison to 4.2 Additionally, the SRA, PI, and Burmese ENG/AA units received an additional reduction in flak to represent the unprepared state of the area and those devices removed had their production set back 60 days to prevent the "4.2" effect of overstacking + device replacement. (this is all in the FAQ)

Against very strongly defended bases I recommend not using DB's unless the base is also being hit by sea bombardment (disruption factors greatly in gun/AA effectiveness) If that is not available TB's used at max height (20k usually) will give a good balance of effect vs loss. This is because DB's (and FB's) attack at 2000 feet by default.

Hi,

One thing to note. You'll struggle doing the 'standard' attack pattern in China with the Japanese.......

I have noticed that. Looks like I may have to do some major shifting of force there if I want to push them off the rail line. I knew I should have cheated and looked at the Allied side of this mod to see what changes Nik made. But I am loath to look at the Allied side. Adds to the suspense.

Yes, I read it. But must have glossed over the China change. About the time I was watching the combat play out, I said "DOH, Nik does fort 9's in his mods for China". But just did not remember that at the time I ordered it.

As it should be, I always hated playing the allied player against Xargun and watch him roll over me in China...made me doubt my abilties as a general (we already no I have none as an admiral).

Well, I goofed and over wrote the blasted combat report. Needless to say, alot more ships were sunk fleeing the PI. I am moving up my second wave of forces. Forward bases are being prepared to support the next advance.

No sign of Robs CV's, so I guess he does not want to play around Kwajalain.[:(]

And I had a very nice party planned for him too.

So far so ugly. I have to admit, not having heard of the Manilla strategy (see what taking six months off will do for you) and I'm scrambling to figure out what to do with DEI. I also truly do not know what to do with all those very old American battlewagons. Having the ASW presence around Pearl is very nice my tincans and PBYs have been feasting on red submarines.

Right now I'm in sorta a steering strategy in DEI ...steering as many APs out of harms way as I can...I got all my warships safe and sound (including POW) now, my only losses were 2 of the 3 British destroyers stationed at Hong Kong...I always wanted to use them to strike back right away...I usually lose at least one of them when I flee...this time I lost 2...it was fun.

I like the "Manila Gambit" because it places KB right in the thick of things from day 1. He saved POW, but she ate 2 torpedoes, so hopefully she will be out of service for a few months. Unless I can hunt her wounded self down and kill her.[X(]

With Hong Kong now secure, I have to decide if that division will be used in the PI or elsewhere. I do not think that the PI will need another division to secure the main island before Feb 42. Maybe I will use it to start on Java.

Maybe but it totally ignores what reality there is for turn one. [:D] And it sucks for the Allied player losing all those subs...I know, you did this to me in our first game.

Ah, but I like it. I hate the blasted things. So I kill them. And no, it does nothing for the reality of the 1st turn. An invasion of the PI would have been an act of war against the US anyway. It was an American territory after all. We owned it.

Not to hog the thread, but PH was attacked to allow the Japanese free reign during their investment of the Phillipines. The Manila Gambit just ignores this.[:-][8|]

Oh well, like the Japenese need more fun in the first few months.[X(] Hey, but if it floats your boat that what counts! More turns! (I'm still waiting for mine...[:(])

I will grab a screen shot of the sunk list next turn. Will be Sunday before I can though. Have a funeral tomorrow to go to.

I think it is roughly 70 of his to 11 of mine.

Well, another couple of days have passed. And I am moving at a little slower pace than is normal for me. Not taking the same risks I normally do. But at the same time, I am doing alot of the things I normally do. When going after what I consider an important target, I throw the kitchen sink at it. Like the PI, I will tell Rob this, you will soon face 5-6 front line divisions in the PI and I will crush you.[X(]

Maylaya will soon have roughly 4 divisions in it with another 3 heading to Burma. Not to forget the independent brigades. They are taking bases that do not need a division yet need more than a SNLF.

Already I am prepping some units for the next major invasion. Soon my forward support bases will be ready to begin taking the air away from Rob. Kuching is one of the forward bases I am preparing for this task. I am trying to save my oil/resource bases and take them last, yet deny Rob the chance to "steal" my goodies. Hate for him to begin bombing them heavily before I am ready for him.

Supply is adequate in all respects. I am having difficulty moving some supply forward though. Nik cut the cargo capacity of the AK's and some bases do not have enough Ak's to haul it. Plus I forgot to create my logistics trail like I normally do and that has really slowed down my forward progress some. My memory is just not what it used to be. I was hoping to catch Force Z with a 5 BB TF and smash it, but Rob did not take the bait.[:(] Now I will be forced to hunt her down and crush her later.

I am not concerned about the old BB's at PH. Later in the war (2 years from now) they will hurt me. But if he try's to deploy them offensively in 42 to try and slow me down, I will crush him. Torpedo magnets.[:-]

Not much has happened in the last couple turns to warrant posting the combat report. I have cleared Hong Kong of mines and am in the process of making it a fast repair point.

Good AAR, I will follow this and see if I cna learn something[:'(] about how to play Japan. I am playing Rob Brennen in this one and I am struggling. Flak is still brutal is places that matter so fly high. Luckily most planes are just damaged so at least you get them back with thier pilots[&o]
