Training a player for a new position

Post by Guderon »

OK, here's my situation - I've found myself in a position where I have an over-abundance of good players at 2B, 3B and SS, but don't have a decent hitting 1B. So it occurs to me to train one of those 'extra' infielders to play 1B and thereby solve both problems. I send the player I want to train down to the minors with the intent of having him start at 1B for however long it takes for him to become proficient at his new position. So far, so good, right? Well, here's what happens - even though I put him at 1B in both lineups, (vs. L and vs. R) when I sim that game I discover that the AI has put him back in his 'best' position (in this case SS). I know that if I manage the minor league games I can force him to play 1B by changing the lineup right before the game, but I really don't want to manage the minor league games. So my question is - is there any way to force this player to play 1B in the minors without having to manage every game?

I just answered my own question. You can force a player in the minors to play a specific position by using the 'player usage settings' to lock that in until you change it.
