USN NIL IJN 5

Post by Reiver »

May 1942 (AI Game)

The Japs go after Wake so I send out Hornet and Yorktown with a posse of CLs and DD's followed by a slower 3 battleship heavy squad and a RCT to reinforce the garrison.

All went well two landings were dealt with by my brave Wake defenders and when my CV's arrived well I hammered a bunch of Jap Cuisers, Destroyers and their transports - they retired heading SE - I followed.

My logic being Ive got them on the ropes lets do as much damage as possible.

As I got further from Wake my search birds picked up a CVL [;)]

So well it was too tempting I completed the rest of my moves then hit the end turn button - as I sat back sipping my ice cold beer anticipating some naval glory - my mood turn to one of horror then disbeleif then anger then abject misery as two enemy carrier groups proceded to shoot my air-groups out of the sky then sink both carriers [:@]

To add insult to injury they then subsequently sank three US BB's and I have 3 cruisers in sinking condition.

Anyway I love this game!

Anyone have any advice on a suitable strategy for dealing with the rampant IJN carrier force, I dont want to risk my three remaining US carriers.

Regards

Hit them where they aint. I am an expert on losing my flattops. 42 is almost too early to be taking on the Japanese navy in this game.

Great read :).
